March 8: Williams is under the impression that the Dolphins wanted to keep him around. New Dolphins VP of Football Operations Bill Parcells and new General Manager Jeff Ireland haven't made a comment publicly, but the former Heisman Trophy winner expects to be a factor in the Dolphins' backfield, according to the Palm Beach Post. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/dolphins/content/sports/epaper/2008/03/08/a1b_dolphins_0308.html?imw=Y

hmmm.....the silence by Parcells & Co intrigues me....

IMO this is going to be a BAD choise for us if he stays it wont be as bad the if he decides to leave because we have Ronnie but I know he is going to Screw this team again

It's insurance in case Ronnie's knee isn't 100% right away. Split time, let Ronnie heal, show case Ricky, trade him next off-season. You keep Ricky around 1 year, it's one less draft choice you have to blow on a RB, one less free agent you have to sign. For year 1 re-building mode, it's a practical decision. It might not be something you'd do in year 4, when you plan to be pushing into the playoffs, but for now, there's little risk.

I don't feel this article means much because of this keyword: Ricky "THINKS"the Dolphins want him to play.

I think Julius Jones would have been a better insurance policy than Ricky Williams..may have been a price difference, but I think we should have swallowed it.

Ive said it a thousand times already and it makes perfect sense.

HE CANT SCREW THE TEAM IF WE DONT LET HIM. How do we not let him you ask. By NOT COUNTING on him. Keep the guy at the dirt cheap cost he is towards the cap, have him on the roster, just dont count on him as even a backup to Ronnie. Then let him play. Anything he adds is a bonus. If he takes over and starts dominating like the Ricky of old, BIG BONUS.

Just have someone in place that we know we can count on as the backup, not Ricky, and all is good. So if Ricky quits or gets suspended again, its no harm to us because we didnt count on him for anything. However if he dosent, then we have a huge wild card in Ricky.

As long as we dont pay him anything signifigant and dont take a roster space for him that would be used by a Running Back if he werent even here, then ITS ALL GRAVY. Anything the guy gives to us is just a plus.

And hell, if he starts running wild again then we are in business. We just cant decide to start counting on him or give him real money even if he does start beasting. That way him getting suspended or quitting can never hurt us.

Just pretend he isnt even here in regards to depth chart at running back and dont pay him anything more than the minimum. Problem solved.

I hope Ricky will play out the season in 2008 as a fin. Bill parcells is smart to sign Ricky. He is playing for the league minimum. So all of you can forget about Ricky being traded. Especially with Ronnie coming back from an ACL injury.

All I know is this team is different when ricky plays...check the record since he became a dolphin. I know he did what he did but when he suits up we win more times than not. Heck, even this year when he played 6 downs we only lost 3 - 0!! :D

I really want Ricky to get back to that 2002-2003 form, but I just don't see it happining. He's a smaller back now. However, I think if he takes some hits in the pre-season and in training camp/mini-camps then I don't think we would see a Pittisburgh type game again.
