man if u really think about it that is idiotic

I thought about it and it's not idiotic. Maybe, just maybe, he actually cares about playing football.

Kind of makes you wonder how much Wanny had a role in his decision to leave last year. It's a refreshing change to see an athlete do something for reasons other than just money.

yeah in that situation ur correct but to turn down a reality show when he owes us so much money, i heard he turned it down before he came back

I am liking Ricky more and more. A lot of the current things have has said are good ways of looking at life. I don't know how well he actually is at this point. However I think he has a great outlook on life.

What this proves is that Ricky Williams simply doesn't want the attention that this would give him. He's always been the type that would rather not have the camera on him at all. Basically, the polar opposite of Terrell Owens.

I've said it before. If Ricky Williams were in a position to just play football without having all the media attention and pressure, he would never leave the game. I truly believe he loved and still loves playing football, and he left the headache of having all the pressure on his shoulders and playing the game within the confines of the NFL.

It doesn't excuse the fact that he quit on the team, and I still wonder what will happen if the focus is ever all on him again.

The 8.6 Million dollars was put on hold. If he's serious about playing football and he proves it then Wayne won't make him pay it. It's not idiotic.

Exactly. Why prostitute yourself doing reality tv and deodorant ads, particularly when you wouldn't end up being able to keep it? Both financially and professionally, it makes sense for him to work his a** off this year, and to have his debt forgiven. Next year, he will likely get traded and get a sizeable new deal. If he returns to anywhere near his old form, all of the endoresements and tv offers will still be there a year from now. What won't be there is the 8.5 million in debt. Smart move Ricky!

I was going to post basically exactly what you just did, KB. Well done.

If I had doubts about whether Ricky's heart was in the game or not, this would say nothing to me. The dude is a recluse. Luckily for me, I don't doubt Ricky. Money is a factor in him being back, but I think that is only because he has judgments for child support he is going to have to deal with. I really believe that money means next to nothing to Ricky and that any decisions he makes about continuing to play will be about his happiness and the level of unwanted attention he gets.

Ricky just wants happiness whether by attention, playing, weed...

So money isn't the issue I guess though I wish he would go on the reality shows and mags to give the money back to the fans who tore up/burned/damaged their ricky jerseys.

unfortunately, those people are in a tiny, tiny minority these days.

Ricky is obviously one of them... he quit football and left MILLIONS on the table because of it for reasons other than money, so I don't see why this is so surprising.

Maybe he is really serious about playing again. He seems to be turning down a lot of offers for easy money. He could have at least said yes to Nike and sent the stuff to me :D

It's a really good sign IMO, I think he's on the road back and I can see us getting a couple of years out of him. Unless, god forbid, Ronnie gets hurt and Saban has to run Ricky too much.

geeee, maybe ricky is not your average greedy athlete...maybe ricky is just another guy try to figure things out...everything I have heard him say seems to be pretty thoughtful and introspective, good for him. In the time of TO I would take ricky anytime.

if you burned your jersey, isn't the lesson you learned about burning it valuable? don't seek a permanent solution to a temporary problem
;)

I didn't burn mine, I gave it away. But in the case that Ricky wants to reinburse everyone's burned jersey money (I wish), then I'll say I burned mine. :D
