When Ricky came clean and said he was using mj he surprised a lot of folks. Then he said folks shouldn't be so surprised because a lot of players were using mj and using masking agents. Many scoffed at his comment, but maybe he was right. Last year we saw the appearance of "the wizzinator" and a number of mj related cases. Then in the past two weeks Vick's water bottle reveals a false bottom with residue (never saw that in my Dasani) and now the Bengals #1 draft pick is busted for a baggie of grass ("oh, that was the girl's Superbowl logo backpack"). How are players beating this random drug test? It just seems like Ricky Williams comes clean, gets his act together, and yet he's facing a lifetime ban while players are "tripping the light fantastic" with reckless abandon. It's almost as if the league caught one mouse in a mousetrap, and it believes that if it simply executes the undead mouse, the cheese factory will be free of mice forever. They need a new way to catch folks. Does anyone feel banning Ricky will deter someone from using dope?

His ban comes from REPEATED offenses, nothing unfair about it. I'm rooting for Ricky to come back here and be a big success for us though.

can't believe the billions are being waste on this "war on drugs" even though other legal **** actually kills people.

I think it's unfair given the fact the last test failed and it wasn't for pot, he obviously tried to clean up and consumed some food, something that was given to him as part of his religon. They knew it, yet they still fail him, basically to avoid any future grey area, from other players. It was proven that it was in something he consumed and it was nothing to enhance your ability, or alter your mood. It was health food, for heaven sakes! Nonetheless, that's water under the bridge, lets get him back and move forward.

I think it's obvoius most athletes probably smoke weed.

I'd say a good chunk of the population smokes weed.

this is not true...stats show that 1 out of 5 use drugs...that means that 8 out of 10 people DONT... or 80% of the nation "dont use drugs"...

Dont get fooled by the hype...stats show different :cooldude:

It's probably true but when was the last time you took a poll or statistics seriously? They also say/show if you smoke a joint you're gonna take a gun and blow your face off or somehow forget a human being which in reality is stupid.

Exactly, and how many of those polled do you think are going to tell the truth on these survey's? I would bet a large protion would lie about their habits...

Still, I realize there are more people that abtstain from drugs than those who enjoy them.

It's the players responsibility to know what they are putting in their bodies. Mistake or not, rules are rules. He has an obligation as a player in the NFL that makes millions of dollars to call the freaking hotline and ask "this white powder on these donuts, is this okay?" He didn't do that so him and along with the team is paying the price. However... taking steroids and smoking weed should not have the same penalties.

However, I think after serving a year suspension, he should be subject to the same amount of tests as everyone else.

Ding ding we have a winna! Ricky has stayed clean since his suspension though.

What gets me is that you can actually SEE the negative effect alcohol has on your system. People are often known to vomit, get alcohol poisoning, become belligerent and pass out. The liver is affected negatively. Same with the central nervous system, muscle development, etc. I have no problem with alcohol being legal and regulated, but when you add up the things that drinking can lead to, and compare them to what MJ does (no effect on nervous system, muscles or liver, calming influence on those who take it, NOT addictive) it is absolutely appalling that MJ is not legal and alcohol is.

Did it ever come to light what the substance was that cause his last failed test because it was already concluded and printed that is WAS NOT FOR MARIJUANA.

.....but what was it?

Ephedrine?
Mau Haung?

Some other street drug?

Alchohol used in moderation on a daily basis is actually very healthy. Especially red wine. Pot, turns people into potheads. Potheads think strange things and don't even realize it.

Illegal drugs (coke, heroin, ect..) = 10,000 to 15,000 deaths per year

Pharmecutical drugs (viagra, ect...) = over 200,000 deaths per year.

No doubt we are directing the "war on drugs" at the wrong enemy.
