I will tell you all something if Ricky keeps this up, he will be the franchise player next year. You better believe that. I also expect Ireland to lockup Carey, Crowder and Bell longterm.

we're not gonna pay a 32 yr old whose already retired once from the league a top 5 Rb salary. We will do our best to sign him however.

Best thing I can think is try and sign him to a 2 year extension during the season. No reason to give him the AVG of the top 5 backs in the league garenteed, not protected to well against INJ there on a 32 to 33 year old RB

Exactly, you don't guarantee Ricky that kinda money with his past.

he's one failed drug test away from being BANNED for life. You wanna tie up money in that kind of person??

No way in hell

in this case 1/3 aint bad.... we need to resign Carey now that we have our LT.... he's a stud on the right side... Nobody tags a 33 yo RB.... espescially not 1 with rickys history.... Bell however can either earn a contract from some team, maybe us, or be out of the league next year.

I just hope the FO isnt dumb and trades him. He is just such an exciting player to watch. What a diffrence an OL and decent QB makes huh.

this is preseason you have to rember that you might want to wait tell the end of the season to say that

If we franchised him, I would call for Parcells to step down. That would be the worst move.

Sorry guys I forgot franchising a player required you to give him top 5 money. Nontheless if Ricky proves he can rush like he has before he will be given an extension. The guy has been awesome.

I hope he does well enough so that we can get value for him in a trade before they either lose him to free agency or lifetime ban. He looks amazing so far, with RB's knee & now thumb he is going to be the workhorse the first few games of the season.

As for Crowder, Carey & Bell - I think they can all be significantly upgraded.
They are all servicable but we need another smart ILB more of the Zach Thomas mold than Crowder who while athletic just doesn't seem to have the head ZT did.

his trade value is skyrocketing though. Come the trade deadline, we will be out of the playoff race. If a team wants to part with a 3rd or 2nd round pick for him, I'm making that deal.

Someone will get injured, or there will be a team that is in contention that will need another weapon on offense and will roll the dice on him for a few months to try and win a trophy.

Yes. He won't be here in a few years when we are in contention, so let us get something for him.

He is to valuable to this team. If we can keep him for 2 more seasons we could be contending by then. That is if the rookies keep playing as well as they are. He keeps this kind of play up it would have to be more than just a 2nd round pick. He is looking like a top 5 back again. If he stays healthy this season that means he could be around for at least 2 more seasons playing like this. Ricky is fresh and the few years off really extends his career.
