what are you sniffing???capecoralfinfan said:what!? the steelers have willie parker and 900 year old bettis? neither one of them could hold ricky or ronnie's jock strap right now.
capecoralfinfan said:i can't even stand reading one more ignorant post about ricky playing for the minimum salary! he WILL NOT. ricky william's only way of retiring with a lifestyle he's used to is to play football for a few more years. do you really think ricky williams will light up the nfl making 800,000 dollars?! if we can get a 2nd rounder and up for ricky we need to pull the trigger. ricky isn't a long term option for the fins and the second he hits 30 years old his value is nothing. i know we have some intelligent posters here. lets be real fellas. ricky must go.

SabanEra84 said:its not because of ben they are in the game, its because of parker and bettis that put the ball in the endzone and set that team up. they pound the ball, what was ben's attempts per game? like 15-20?? they are a run first team and they beat teams in the playoffs because they changed that. they control the clock, and you do that by running. i guess you forgot big ben's game against the patriots in last years game....dont foget he was hurt a few times this year as well and the wins they had to get was on the ground. maybe you need to rethink your mindset. do the math...
pittsburgh ran 960 offensive plays this year: 928 were unpenalized
379 passing plays
549 rushing plays
62.3% of the time they run the football. want to try again?
SabanEra84 said:i did watch the playoffs. regular season they ran the ball near 63% of the time. going into the playoffs, that is what teams prepared for and they threw the ball. smart coaching, but if it wasnt for bettis and parker, would they be successful?
lets look back. ricky retires, leaving miami no good RB.
what happened.
throw first mentallity and we had 8 int's returned for tds?
you just throw ben into the offense with no running game, no way he will be successful. im sorry but its all about the offense, and pittsburgh's offense is RUN FIRST. CONTROL THE CLOCK. it is easy to throw the ball on opponents when they have 8-9 guys in the box.
im not doubting ben at all, i think he is a great qb, the debate is how they reached where they have gotten at this point. the team is all about controlling the clock, and running the ball with parker and bettis allows the team to be successful when throwing bc teams put everyone up at the line to shut down the run.
my argument is that if you put ben behind a sub par offensive line, with no running attack nearly as good as pittsburgh's, you put him basically on .500 team. no qb can do it alone, so i think the credit everyone is giving big ben is being overlooked by what the coaches and running game did to teams mentallity facing them. we must stop the run, we have to key bettis/parker and contain them. no team did that this year. period. seattle will do the same thing, 8 men up, man to man in the secondary. bc the running game is what put fears in defenses facing pitt. not big ben.

ABrownLamp said:gee I hope he doesn't threaten to sit out. I dont know what the dolphins would do if he did. oh wait. ricky needs money and with his rep he is in no position to start making demands. oh and i love how you act like you know what Ricky would do and what is going through his head. Ya hes definitely the predictable type.
