Ricky Williams.......Now.....

I love how Goon keeps saying that it was his love of pot that drove him to run. He was severely unhappy with the life he was living, and the road he was going down. He would wear his helmet during interviews because of his disorder. He ran away from the game in order to find himself, to find inner peace. I'm sure that his kids would much rather have a happy father and a couple million less than a father that couldn't be there for his kids emotionally but a couple of million more. He valued not feeling like **** all of the time more than football. He got treatment and he doesnt smoke anymore.

ETSing isn't quitting.

Ricky Williams quit.

Not only that, he valued drugs over his comrades which I doubt you did, so, I question why you
use the allegory.

I like how you THINK you know everything about what Ricky values and freely judge him based on what you ASSUME. In reality, you know **** and your posts reflect that.

Ricky is not a quitter, our FO had no other thing in mind but to have Ricky run 40 times a game, he had told the coaches the year before to get something else going, but wannstache couldn't understand the writings on the wall...

On his welcome back against Pittsburg didnt he take one for his team?
Season ending! Then for all the love and support he had to end his career in a Baltimore jersey.

When you have accomplished in your life what Ricky accomplished as a football player, you can look down on him and denigrate him in a public forum without ever having met him. Otherwise it's what opinions are like... Everybody has one. You know who you are.

He does seem to be doing better, and, good for him. I certainly applaud the progress he seems to have
made, but the facts are in evidence, and those facts show him to be lacking in terms of legacy.

You can treasure whomever you want that wore a Dolphins uniform. You'll have to make excuses for
just about all of them in terms of being men, and I understand that. I just can't get by what Ricky did,
and It's like raking nails on a chalkboard to hear people talk about how "enlightened" etc, et al he is.

Don't think I treasured anyone. I simply posted a video. Williams certainly made some questionable decisions. No Doubt about that but he also appears to have redeemed himself to some degree. For that I applaud him. The guy deserves a shot at redemption. Hopefully he stays on that path....

I love Ricky. He is one of a few NFL players that i would like as a neighbor. It is wonderful to see him or anyone trying to teach young players to be good people instead of simply being good football players.

This Bowl is for you Ricky, much love.

Your BUD: LUG

I'm well aware of that. I'm made a number of bad choices myself. One thing I've never done is hold
and act, process, or substance above the well being of my family, or the people I've worked with and for.

He does seem to be doing better, and, good for him. I certainly applaud the progress he seems to have
made, but the facts are in evidence, and those facts show him to be lacking in terms of legacy.

I get the feeling that you are not very "enlightened".

Ricky is not a quitter

The hell he wasn't. He single handedly destroyed the 2004 season with the timing of his "retirement" after three failed drug tests. Two ****ing days before training camp. He sucks and will always suck! We wasted two first round picks on the freak.

Then the piece of **** comes back and fails another drug test and is suspended for the 2006 season.

Ricky Williams says he failed third drug test before quitting

MIAMI -- Retired Dolphins running back Ricky Williams said he failed a third drug test for marijuana use, which would cost him a four-game suspension if he decides to return to the NFL, The Miami Herald reported on its Web site Thursday.

Williams told the newspaper that marijuana played a larger role in his retirement than he indicated when he walked away after just five pro seasons. He said he learned of the failed test and possible suspension days before telling coach Dave Wannstedt last week that he was through playing.

Williams said, however, that there were "a hundred reasons" for his surprising decision to retire, and his desire to continue smoking marijuana was only one of them.

"I didn't quit football because I failed a drug test," he told the Herald. "I failed a drug test because I was ready to quit football."

Williams said he's not addicted to marijuana.

Coach Dave Wannstedt said the Dolphins have received no notification from the NFL regarding a third failed drug test, and Williams' latest revelation caught them by surprise.

"We knew nothing about it," Wannstedt said. "I'm totally surprised and shocked again."

Wannstedt said he's eager to move beyond the Williams situation and open training camp Saturday.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello declined comment when reached by The Associated Press.

In May, three South Florida newspapers quoted unidentified sources saying Williams tested positive for marijuana and faced a fine of at least $650,000 for violating the substance-abuse policy for the second time since joining the Dolphins in 2002.

He told the Herald for Thursday's story that he already decided to quit football before that second positive test. He appealed that fine, but received word last week that his appeal had been denied, the Herald reported.

While the appeal was pending, Williams said, he continued smoking marijuana during a trip to Europe and failed a third test upon his return.

He said he had been using a masking agent to cleanse his system while being randomly tested for two seasons but he didn't do that before the last test.

Williams first failed a drug test soon after arriving in Miami in 2002, the Herald reported. He spent much of his two seasons with the Dolphins in the league's drug program, seeing a therapist weekly and taking eight to 10 random urine tests a month, the story said.

Williams suffers from social-anxiety disorder and was a spokesman for the anti-depressant Paxil. He said marijuana helped him once he had to stop using Paxil because it didn't agree with his diet.

The former Heisman Trophy winner played three seasons for New Orleans and considered retirement while with the Saints, coach Jim Haslett said.

"In 2001, Ricky came in my office and told me he was going to retire and play baseball," Haslett said. "I don't know if we talked him out of it. We told him he wasn't a very good baseball player -- maybe that did it."

Williams didn't blossom until he was dealt to the Dolphins in 2002 for two first-round draft picks.

At times, Miami's biggest trade since 1970 looked like a steal. Williams led the NFL in 2002 with 1,853 yards rushing and broke nine team records. Last season he ran for 1,372 yards despite little offensive support.

Yay for Ricky for doing something good. I am happy for him as a human being.

As a Miami Dolphin he deserves every bit of vilification he receives and more.

man, when Ricky wanted to play he was a one of the rare game-changing type RBs. But I cannot fault him for seeing more to life than football, especially with the level of success he had at every level. Definitely had some resentment for what he did that took at year or so to accept, but I never gave up on him or burned a jersey. will always be a favorite player in the NFL of mine.

At the time he bailed on us I was distraught. In hindsight his doing that probably helped us get rid of Wanny a year or two earlier than if Williams came back and we had won 8-9 games.

Lol, he had spiderman bedsheets with hulk and thor on them! Haha
