Williams referred to the 2002 season, when he ran 383 times for 1,853 yards, and 2003, when he carried 392 times for 1,372 yards, as a burden that wore on him.
“I led the NFL in attempts the past two years and they really didn’t go out and get a quarterback to help me, so I knew it’s going to be all on me again,” Williams said. “I could see my mortality as a football player, that I’m not going to be able to do this much longer. It just became obvious to me that playing football for me is not going to be fun, not something I’m going to enjoy and it’s time for me to do something different.”
A.J. Feeley started eight games for Miami that year, compiling a poor 61.7 quarterback rating. Jay Fiedler started seven games, with a 67.1 rating, and Sage Rosenfels started once.

Williams is the second ex-Dolphin in the past couple of weeks to criticize the team’s post-Dan Marino quarterbacking situation. Bears receiver Brandon Marshall said his time in Miami might have been different if someone better than Chad Henne had been throwing him the ball.

Wonder if we'll get Wallace in 5 years saying the same thing about the current QB.

Tannehill is easily the best QB since Marino outside of pennington in 2008.

We went to the playoffs with Fiedler but that team was loaded with talent

If we had even a half decent QB in the early 2000s, we could have competed for a super bowl. We had the best running back, and a top 5 defense in the NFL. Fiedler/Griese/Feeley were all a ****ing joke.

Didn't Griese have a pro bowl year w Denver once? Or did just get a contact high from Rickey?

Who can blame the guy - wannstupid really believed he could win w Fiedler and handing off to Williams 25-30 times per game.

We did not have the best defense in the NFL in the early 2000s.

The Baltimore Ravens did.

and in that playoff win, Fiedler was like 1 for 9 w 2 picks at halftime. If not for the RB and his 200+ yards we don't win that game.

nothing I didn't aready believe. Worst of all after 2003 season they basically changed every player on the oline, definitely not a smart decision.
The line struggled to create holes in 2003 because Nails was injured and teams knew they could stack with Fielder at qb. Also in 2003 we left LT quite undermanned and had to play a rookie there named Wade Smith. 2004 saw the whole line replaced, not to mention the awful trade for AJ Feeley. A player that we should have had for like a 4th rounder at most. The team wasn't on the same sheet of music either since we traded a 2nd and a 5 year 25 million dollar contract to get Feeley, yet he was not made the starter. Fielder was totally exposed for the backup that he was with no top flight runningback and a totally brand new and horrible oline. In retrospect Williams was smart to take that year off in the first place. Feeley I must admit although not good was a tough SOB taking the physical abuse he took. I would like to have kept Feeley as a backup going into 2005 and drafting a qb that year. Hell we still could have signed Gus Frerotte. The 2004 and 2013 dolphin olines are in competition for worst dolphin oline ever.

This is why I don't understand how anybody wants to drive our closest thing to a long-term QB we've had since Marino away.....it's ridiculous. We have had so much **** over the years, that as average to below average as Tannehill has been at times, that he's still a country mile better than some of the **** we've gone through. The difference between him and someone like Fielder is he has all the tools to be a quality NFL starter. We haven't had one of those since I saw Danny win his last game in the kingdome (only live game I've seen for that matter...I was 8). Pennington gave us the best single season we've had in a decade, Tannehill can give us more than that if he continues to grow.

On to Ricky, my favorite athlete in sports realistically (tho Barry Bonds is right up there) and how can you blame the guy? We forget that football players are people too. The amount of damage he was taking was going to destroy his later years. The man was mismanaged and he looked out for his livelihood. It's too bad he wasn't born 20 years sooner playing with Danny, with a half decent team he could've been the best running back ever.

The phrase "beast mode" was coined because of Ricky's style.

That's a guarantee. Tannehenne is the reason this team didn't make the playoffs last year. He's not a big game QB and plays down to his opponents. He shows no signs of being a franchise qb.

His stats are barely better than Fiedlers.... And now it's easier to throw the ball...
