i think he just answers like that to just screw with the media, he's probably just having fun with it. he was never really one for interview (i.e. wearing a helmet during an interview in New Orleans.)

Like it or not you are minimizing and defending him. I am amazed you do not see it that way. I think someone would have to try awfully hard to fight back the urge to criticize Wicky. Again I am amazed there are so many of you out there. It seems like some out there just want to ignore what he did, and imply this goofball should ever be trusted again when it comes to believing anything he has to say about his football career.

The guy has done nothing to justify this kind of defense; he has however done more than enough to be criticized when we are talking about trusting anything he has to say concerning his football career.

The interview is up on insider... You can watch it for youself.. Just watching, it reaffirms to me that he isnt being coached to respond to questions.. He is just saying what he believes.. Even if it sounds odd to the audience.

Fine that is your opinion, but to think a Pro athlete returning to football in Wicky's situation would not be coached IMO is a totally naive opinion to have. All pro athletes are coached on how they should answer questions to the press, why not Wicky? What makes Wicky above all of that? For goodness sakes the NFL holds meetings for rookies on how to answer questions from the press.

What exactly do you disbelief concerning what he said about football?

He said "he is here to work." Its quite obvious.. He knows this is his job, and thats how he is approaching it now.. And it fits in quite nicely with the common notion that he is only coming back for the money.. So what exactly are you disagreeing about? What is he lying about concerning his football career? Is he really here for fun?

I do not believe he has changed. I would think that was quite obvious. He is not to be trusted, and IMO anyone defending him is just going to look the foo when this guy goes AWOL again or fails another drug test.

Wow.. Ok, now you are saying everyone is coached.. Seems like backtracking to me.. Previously you stated he was coached like he was an exception.. Like he was being coached to give answers because he couldnt speak the truth.. Now all of sudden everyone is coached.. Ok.. I guess we have a bunch of automatons in the NFL... For being coached up constantly in the fine art of press conference speaking, NFL players sure make an aweful lot of stupid statements...

Question: Why do you trust President Bush is no longer an alcoholic? If the past is the best indicator of the present and future, how did the President step out of it?

He would say Jesus.. Correct? Well, it appears to me, and many others through Ricky's statements since his retirement, that philosophy has also helped him rid himself of chemical dependency, only it was not through Jesus, but rather an Eastern Philosophy..

So why are you so quick to trust President Bush regarding his "change", yet not Ricky?

I trust the President is no longer an Alcoholic... I feel the same of Ricky..
 
i think he is actually a lot more comfortable then before......he feels free to answer how he wants, and not what is expected.....good for ricky
 
None of us know him on a personal level therefore I don't see it being fair for anyone on here to say anything about him. All we go by is what reporters tell us, when we all know, they can stretch the truth to make their interview or story look better.

I'll never meet Ricky, that being said, I can't really have an opinion of him

Are you actually saying that Pro athletes are not coached on how to answer the press?

Backtracking? I'm not sure you are using that word properly in this case.

They are given a small lecture on how to deal with the press at the rookie symposium.. I wouldnt call that coaching.. I dont think Saban is taking time at Training Camp right now to coach his players how to answer things in the media.. I dont believes its part of the weekly regimen..

"Ok, first we'll do some windsprints, then I want you all to answer some mock media questions I have prepared for you. Any incorrect answers will cause the rest of the team to run a mile, so be sharp!" :rolleyes:

This is incredible to me. And please no one blame me because this thread goes off topic. Trying to Compare the Presidents past alcohol use to what Wicky is currently going through is a scary thing.

But to answer your question, the President has shown everyone alcohol use is no longer an issue for him and has not been for decades now.

Your logic is so flawed it is almost scary.

And you do not think high profile athletes do not get extra training on how to answer questions asked of the press?

And do you consider Wicky's situation a normal AVG type of Pro athletes situation as far as the questions that will be asked of him by the press?
