Just here me out,,then you can bash me,,
A couple years ago when ricky was a frightening running back,{i felt bad for d backs in the fourth quarter} he mentioned that he finally figured out that it was'nt just about being a great player but that it was about being a leader,,we can say all we want about him but there is a bottom line when referring to ricky,,he was a dangerous talented runningback,,he has a certain presence about him,the players love him for reasons that none of us understand, and most importantly he made players around him better, they felt they had a chance when he was on the field.

now i know what your going to say,{if he was such a leader then why does he smoke pot} well,i can't answer that question, but i can tell you this that has nothing to do with being in the moment and being on the team.

hmmm, lets think about this one, last year rick's out,and we go in the tank in the first half of the season, then when he comes back we go on a 6 game winning streak, coincidence,i let you decide. What about the debauchery that is this season,i'am not saying that one player makes the difference but when you have a team that is completely void of any kind of leadership his presence could of helped and made the difference from being 1 and 6 to 7 and 0.

Like it or not ricky williams brought a quiet leadership to this team that has not been replaced,he also had a talent that i miss,,he was tough and i liked him.

I wrote this because i just finished watching that video from canada,,hilarious by the way.

The best leader the Miami Dolphins have is Jason Taylor. He leads by example on and off the field. He stands up for his teammates and coaches. Ricky Williams leadership abilities (IMO) is questionable. I don't think a leader QUITS on his teammates. Ricky was a great player and led with his on the field performances but not with much of anything else.

leaders help the team win and carry the team when they really need something special. Ricky is a great player, but he let the whole team down 3 different seasons now.

Oh and leaders don't quit.

In my opinion, we don't have a true leader on our offensive right now. There were times where it was thought that McMichael was our leader or whomever our Quarterback was at the time... but lacking a distinct leader is a big part of why we struggle on offensive, in my opinion. As for Defense, I believe our team leaders are Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas and have been for almost as long as they have been on this team. Some other defensive leaders we've had in the past have been: Junior Seau, Sam Madison, Tim Bowens, etc. Also, even now we still have veteran leadership in guys like Kevin Carter, Vonnie Holliday, etc.

I don't know JiM brown quit and he was a pretty damn good leader, on the field and off. I do agree though we cannot look at Ricky as a leader. On the field we may have not had a better leader isnce Marino but if off field stuff alienates him.

100% with you!!!!!!RICKY #1

Disagree. If JT was such a leader he would see the team as a whole and not saying "this one is on us (the defense)". Zach Thomas is the best leader we have on the defense. The offense doesn't have a leader and that's why we haven't had much of an offense since Ricky hasn't been around. I think the point of this thread is that it's not the point of leadership but a point of hope, that when we have Ricky the team pulls it together knowing we have someone that can get the job done. Everyone did seem to pull together more when Ricky was with us. I think he gave the team hope because he is such a great RB.

Ricky a playmaker

Ricky was the only playmaker/gamebreaker the Dolphins have had since Dan Marino!! Pure talent even though he is eccentric.:boohoo:phins have NO playmakers on offense!!! Ricky would have made a difference in alot of the 6 losses thus far! Please don't try to push Chambers and Ronnie Brown. Chris Chambers is a #2 receiver and Ronnie is on par to draw comparisons to Sammie Smith!! All potential no results on the field!

I didn't read any posts in this thread but the title was enough for me. Something has to be very funny for me to actully laugh out loud when I read it, and I have to say, this thread title did the trick. Ricky Williams, a leader? HAHAHA! That's funny.

Leaders help other players win? Then how come Ricky Williams has played the exact same number of playoff games for the Miami Dolphins as I have....in case you're wondering, that's ZERO

It's not Ricky's leadership ability, hell we all know based on his comments over the years the last thing he wants to be is a leader! What he did bring to the game was a sense of urgency, he wanted to win. Given all his deficiencies he can play the game when he wants to. The fact is he sparked this team because when he was in he contributed in a way that helped win games. Everyone raises their game when the 'ol mo is in their favor. We just have'nt seen anyone this year dominate a game, or even turn around a game. Ricky isn't my favorite player but he was productive when he was involved. WHAT WE NEED IS RONNIE TO RAISE HIS GAME TO THE NEXT LEVEL, AND HE CAN!

It's kinda hard for Ronnie to raise his game when he only gets 15 carries. Ricky was getting 30 carries a game.

It's not about the number of carries, I wish Ronnie got more but he just isn't getting it done when he does get the ball. Yeah I bet this is going to go over like a ton of bricks but the bottom line is great backs find a way to get the yards. I really think Ronnie has the ability but at some point the game has to click at the NFL level. He just isn't seeing what little holes there are and in the NFL game these holes are few, small and seldom there. He will start seeing them and reacting, but to this point he isn't!

Please Stop With The Ricky Crap Hes Not Here And We Need To Go Forward!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
P.s. He Is Not A Leader!!!!!!!!!
