Hmm. I am not worried about Ronnies contract negotiations, I just hope he can get to camp in time to get in shape for the season

and to get even more in touch with the system and all

while you gain points with me due to your avatar your comparison is way off base. This is their profession, its not there fault they get big money its what the market demands. While our (common man) market doesn't allow us that oppurtunity. With football being the worst sport for guarenteed money or player benifits, every player should be able to get the most he can as they can take it away just as fast. When your employer highered you you had no experience but you still negotiated a salary based on evaluation/interview/past work, and he is doing the exact same. Good for him he should get as much cash as he can.
Come on, most people cant possibly imagine that kind of money. I agree that they should have big salaries but as a rookie you havn't even set foot in an NFL uniform. Thats whats wrong with our society, sports glamorize their athletes way too much, specially in other sports like basketball and baseball where they make even more than football players (which I think it should be the other way around). Also players have multimillion dollor insurance policies incase they have a career ending injury so they are covered on that end.

But I was stating the fact that GOOD rookies still have a lot to prove because sometimes what they did in the college ranks doesnt work out in the NFL. And by the way, in a comon job you can negotiate salary only so much, otherwise you get axed or shoved away for the next person in line. You think they do that in pro sports? Teams have other players to keep happy as well.

There is a rookie salary pool that they can not exceed so that solves that problem. It is up to the team to manage the salaries and contracts and for us to speculate so in reality theres not much to be done and both sides understand the restrictions of contract negotiations and teh cap.

And you can give up on the happy horse crap that they are overpaid. yes we all want teachers to make the moeny and not athletes but until people stop paying to be entertained and re-direct that money to better things then they will continue to be paid as they are, hell they deserve it as they did all the hard work to get there. Yes i can get axed, but if i lose a finger so i type slower I don't get cut from the team. If ronnie loses a step or does something stupid he gets cut BYE BYE no out the door package no anything.

I agree jsut cause your a stud in college doesn't mean your a stud in the NFL, however if you had the oppurtunity, and held all the cards to a lager pay day you would cave and just sign..BS I know i wouldn't. Knowing that technically i could be a bust and this may be my only chance ever. I am going to get every penny out of my employer. I refuse to leave money on the table.

i agree the reason these salarie tlks take for ever are because of the ryan leafs akili smiths or tim couches who get drafted top 5 then absolutly suck in the nfl but they take the money and run im sure those guys werever they are are still living it up

Well then if this will be the case, then the 49ers and Alex Smith better hurry up on a contract.

That's the difference. When you are considered in an elite class you are not as easily replaceable.

Not worried at all even if Ronnie misses some time. If he was a QB I would be worried, but being a RB allows him to miss some time and not really miss on what is going on. Good thing he is a RB.

Awing, I agree they should get whatever they can out of their employer, that's what we all do, even if it is on a much smaller scale than athletes. However, the players (and rookies in particular) should be required to sign by the start of camp or face very steep fines.

Did not see this asked

Say Ronnie holds out for most of training camp and even the first couple of games (I know it probably won't happen just respond as if it will happen)

I know Jamal Lewis and others (Boston) challenged their suspensions could Ricky do the same??

Ricky will probably still get 4 games but instead of missing the first 4 games he could miss games 3,4,5,6

Question for all....

Does Ricky looking more and more like he will be returning in football shape give the Dolphins any leverage in the Brown negotiations?

I don't think that will make any difference. Draft picks are always paid according to their draft position. Brown was the number two pick, he will get number two money. The problem is that every year players get paid a little more and he and his agent will want to wait and see what Smith agrees two. This is just standard procedure IMO.

hopeful he be sign before camp starts and i hope that ricky puts all the weight back so you could hear this say touchdown touchdown miami dolphins what a td by ronnie brown

The articles just speculation. At this time of year everyone for the most part only has minimal contract outline talks. Those talks don't even heat up until next week.
