Would you trade Ricky Williams and draft a Back-up for Ronnie Brown in the second or third round like Lesean McCoy or Rashad Jennings? Ricky williams is getting up there in age and isnt going to be in the league much longer and as much as people still want to think this he isnt the same running back as he was back in the 2002.

I never count out Ricky Williams. The kid got stronger and faster as the season went along last year. Thomas Jones and Ricky Williams are proving you can still be elite in your 30's.

I think this regime wouldn't hesitate to take a 2nd rounder for him, that said NO ONE will offer that so its a moot point. Hard to fathom anyone giving up a 3rd either.

Take into account how little he makes, how talented he still is, how little tread is on those tires and how much he wants to repay the Dolphins and their fans, there is no reason to not want him on our team. I still think he's going to help us win a superbowl. It was his destiny.

R&R head into next year the most feared RB combo in the league.

if he is going to help us win a SB it is going to have to be next year because i dont see us resigning him after he is a FA

3.5 mil ain't cheap but I think Ricky is at this point is still really, really good.
Ricky hasn't lost any speed but he may be a tad less violent in the way he runs. He isn't getting quite the yardage he did before but the only back in this draft who would probably be better than him right away would be Wells.

I'm against trading him for a pick because we won't get value.

On the other hand, if we needed the cap space I would do it; but we don't need the cap space, unless we are planning on trading for Julius Peppers.

I think it depends on how there year goes if he gets resigned. I remember in training camp last year Parcells saying how hard Ricky was working and how he was a great example of what this team needs. I would no be surprised if he plays for another year or two after this season.

I don't think we'd get good value for him draft-pick wise, so I'd rather just keep him for 2009. At $3.5mil he's not cheap, and I'm not sure how much tread he has left on those tires of his. The Longhorns just about ran his wheels off, which I think cancels out the time off he's had in the pros.

Thomas Jones is still okay because he was a bust in Arizona and he never got a full load. He began starting consistently later on after four seasons. Ricky is in a similar boat though with all the not playing due to suspensions so he will be able to bring it for a couple more years.

Obviously, we would trade him if we could get good value for him. That is not going to happen though. He is worth more to the team that whatever we could get in a trade draft pick wise.

Thank you for bringing this post back to reality. Some people on here........

3.5 million really isn't bad for a player the caliber of Ricky Williams. A guy who is a weapon both running and catching the football, a guy who when mentally ready for seasons can produce very well, a guy who can be a spot or starter or situational player and thus take the load off of Ronnie Brown. Unless there is a really nice deal on the table, and i don't think there will be, you have to hold on to Ricky and hope his new found passion for the game lasts.

People wanting to trade this guy are stuck in the past, the recent past mind you like two years ago. I consider him an offensive mvp. I guess Im a homer but i watch ALL aspects of the game when the dolphins play, and I can tell you without a doubt NO ONE on this team played with the selfless play Ricky did last year. Why would you give that intangible away for someone like Travis Minor, or John Avery? Are you kidding me? I guarantee that he is a coaches favorite on this team.

Is it really worth trading him for what you're going to get? There probably isn't a team in the NFL that would give more than a 5th round pick for Ricky Williams, and i'd be stunned if we got that. He doesn't have the wear and tear of your average 31 year old RB, but he's still at that age where a lot of guys hit the wall. Plus with his history of strangeness in the past, he still is an uncertain commodity and may not merit ANY investment into by another team. We're better off just keeping him.

your one of those people who are stuck in the past if you consider him an Offensive MVP still

You'd be surprised at how big a part of the offense Ricky Williams is. When they replace him, they need to make sure they get a guy who can play, because Ricky Williams is a key cog that makes this machine run. He takes pressure off of Ronnie and gives us so many more options, he's a second weapon.
