He needs to step it up this week against New Orleans.

One of the main reasons why is so that we can use Ronnie to his fullest out in the slot and out of the FB or H-Back position where he can be as versatile as possible.
The reason why we haven't seen Ronnie go out in the slot and play more positions like we expected him to this year and especially in the past 2 games is because Ricky just isn't stepping it up and making other teams respect the run when he comes into the ball game.

Did you know you somehow have 2 threads going for this?

Anyway, I agree RW does need to play better. But I would prefer them to make Ronnie the starter and feed him the ball. Ronnie right, Ronnie left, Ronnie up the middle. Screens, passes over the middle...anything. Just get the ball in this guy's hands.

Then if he gets tired RW can play. They need to keep Ronnie in the game and get him lots of touches. He's probably the most talentd player on the O.

He----- needs to sit on the bench and be a backup. Brown needs to touch the ball more, not Ricky.

Not probably, he is the most talented player. He has like 8 less carries and 11 less yards than C. Williams (The former rookie of the year leader). Can I see that list of those who called him a bust and wanted ricky to be back sooner, because its funny as hell how many people react to quickly.

Oh and Im making sure i keep track of who is calling ricky a bust now. Cause you know hes had the most consistent offseason with having to sit home for 4 games. I give him till week 9 to start playing to form.

I'm not saying Ricky is a bust. Just Brown is the future and the present, he needs to touch the ball more. When Brown gets tired, Ricky spells him, that's what should be happening.

Ricky isa better back than Brown... he's just not getting the carries.... everyone is just infatuated with brown cause he's new.... remember 2 weeks ago when everyone was calling him a bust!
Or how great Bua was after his inehit wonder?

I disagree, Ronnie is better now, and could easily be better than Ricky ever was. Ricky may never return to the player he was. Ronnie seems to handle poor blocking better than Ricky ever did. The best Ricky did in a situation like this is around 3.8 ypc and rarely a run over 20.

Ronnies not getting the carries either... If we could atleast get him the ball more than 15 times a game he would be in the top 5 instead of top 10. In Ricky's smaller form he's lost power and we can't even tell if he's gained a step because we're unable to get him outta the backfield. It looks as if he hasta rely on his "elite" vision and that lil' spin move.

Yeah I know, I was talking about the threads week 1 and 2 calling ronnie a bust. I agree ricky needs to become a backup till the rust gets off him. Then he can start to abuse teams again. And he will. He just got some weight back on, he needs to adjust to it.

Now we are just finding things to complain about. Ricky has had next to no carries. He needs the ball to gain yards. How can you "step it up" when you get the ball 5 times and you play ollay with the defensive lineman. Please see the Call out linehan thread. This is where our major problem is. Ricky needs 15-25 carries as does Ronnie. This will change the time of possession and allow our defense more rest. These running backs will break for yards as they run more and more. Remember Ricky usuually didn't start off the game perfect, but as he got his carries, he would destroy the defenses.

Exactly, and look at what Ronnie is doing. He has really shown us somethings special lately. My concern is I don't sense an urgency from Ricky, but he has always had that side to him. I still think he has it. Sure, it would be nice to see Ricky establish something with more carries, but Ronnie is doing it right now. I say stick to the gameplan of using Ronnie most of the time and giving Ricky 5-10 more carries a game. Having Ricky in the backfield still makes the defense ask, "what are they about to do?"

C'mon man. Ricky can still be dominant as well. We need to do exactly what KC is doing. Both need 15-20 carries a game. They are runners that need to touch the ball to get going.

Ricky is running well, watch him when he touches the ball. The O-Line can't open an inch wide hole for their lives.

Yeah, that "H2" is gonna run down some people... I keep saying it, give him the ball 20-25 times a game, he is a more powerful version of LT, Faulk type of back.. Instead of side-stepping or getting skinny though he just trucks them over...

This thread is rediculous. why are people all down on ricky. in the preseason everyone was so happy.. Saying Aricky was this and that.
Ronnie is looking better becasue he is getting more opportunities to do so. But even he isnt getting enough.
The problem isn't Ricky. It's gameplanning and coaching. Personally i believe R&R have been "babied" too much by our coaching staff. we should be running the ball a mininum if 30 times a game.. we're no where near it. As a result Ronnie has yet to get a 100 yrd game.
let's not get in the mindset like "Start CLEO" mentality. See it for what it is.
Ricky is Ricky... he has never had "fire" on the sidelines.. he's not a RAH RAH in your face guy. But when he plays he plays hard.
So in conclusion so you all understand. what I'm saying our backs are being poorly used. Expecting great things and big numbers from guys who are getting less than 10 carries a game is wrong and shows a lack of understanding.
