Y is everyone so upbeat about ricky playing this year.....r we really confident at all hes going to be able to play

i wish we'd get an update. didnt someone on these boards say something to the effect that it was an herbal suppliment that once ingested has some similar characteristics to banned substances? meaning if they did another test that was more specific or detailed, they'd find out he hadn't taken any illegal substances, and be cleared. i wish i could remember where i read that.

not confident, but hopeful. Hopefully he wins his appeal and is back for this season.

wat do u mean?......r they going to appeal the suspension...bc he begs em?

like i dont see the suspension being lifted to be honest...have they ever appealed a ruling

Last update I read things were leaning toward appealing it. We won't hear more about Ricky until after the draft.

i think ricky will be able to play sometime next year, but i believe we signed beasley incase we dont see ricky and have a big full back to make the path for ronnie brown who can make the second guy miss and make a run for it. But i heard rickys appeal wont be heard by the committy until after the nfl draft. so sometime may-june things will heat up he should take a test now to prove hes on nothing and keep taking tests and showing results and that a test was a fluke

I dont see ricky playing but I think we will keep him on our squad and give him another chance cause Saban knows that he wasnt smoking or doing drugs that he ****ed up for other reasons.

I personally think that Ricky has a good chance at getting the appeal. First off it is official it isn't for marijuana and second off everyone around him including Saban has said that he has done everything perfectly since he has returned. I mean come on Saban even said that he was one of the top 5 players hes ever coached. I think that the NFL will realize that they cannot just ruin hiw future because of a supplement.

Yes. Multiple times. You're not suppose to hear about it though.

Well, I wouldn't bet the house on it, but if it really was a false positive from a benign substance (like a herbal supplement), I find it hard to see how it would still stick or the NFLPA agreeing to a CBA that would allow such to happen. People being banned for non-bannable substances is not the way the process is supposed to work, from what I understand.

An appeal is just the hearing itself to determine whether to uphold the suspension or overturn it and he has a legal right to one.

Many cases have been appealed... some have been upheld, some have been overturned. But as I posted in an earlier thread:
It is the violation of that confidentiality that upset Steinberg, who once had a renowned client who tested positive, appealed the test, and was exonerated. Because his client was innocent, nobody outside the team and league found out about the offense, and Steinberg believes nobody should have learned anything about Williams, either.
That should answer your question.:D
