Here's a part of Jason Cole's article from this morning:

However, a source said league officials are dubious of the claims by Williams, Cornwell and Steinberg and are expected to suspend Williams unless he can show that the substance was clearly not a drug.

I really hope the publicity of the case doesn't influence this decision negatively.

I just saw a report on ESPN, and it pretty much said the same thing.
However I feel like he is going to be cleared because he has the best lawyer for this case and the NFL violated his privacy and the privacy of the program by leaking the story. He just has to prove that he did not take the amphetamine knowingly, but rather that it was either an ingredient in a medication or a supplement.

I think we all need to realize that the chances of Ricky winning this appeal are extremely low. I'm not expecting him to win this, so if that is indeed the final ruling{guilty}, I wont be as disappointed. Sure, I'll be angry, but that's life, and we need to start preparing ourselves of life without Ricky in 2006 in my opinion....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

I really don't think the NFL is going to clear him...but I don't think they're going to suspend him for a whole year either. My guess is they suspend him for 1 game or for 4 games...because this is NOT marijuana related and the program is supposed to help players stay clear not go over the top for stupid stuff when it's pretty obvious from his character that he's not about to be addicted to a bunch of uppers. I think if they are truly worried about the issue of the NFL's clear breach of confidentiality, they'll only suspend him a game...the equivalent of a slap on the wrist and that should be considered as much a victory as any sentence other than full dismissal.

However if they don't feel sorry for him even though THEY broke the rules too, then they may give him a 4 game suspension. Either way a 16 game suspension would surprise the heck out of me.

I was thinking the same thing. They aren't required to suspend him for a year, am I correct? If so, I can see a 1 or 2 game suspension.

I hadn't thought of a 1-game or a 4-game as a possibility. That would be great.

They are required to suspend Ricky for the whole season because of his 4th, violation. I don't believe they will or even could give Ricky a 1 game or 4 game suspension even if the NFL screwed up and leaked the story. I think the NFL is tired of Ricky and is looking for any excuse to rid of him. Just my opinion....

no they arent required to suspend him for 1 year. that is the maximum they can suspend him for.

I am preparing for life without Ricky in the backfield. I will be surprised if they don't suspend him. My hopes and dreams are they don't, but it will shock me to have those hopes come true. Please, please shock me!

If you are correct (I hope you're wrong), than that would be a travesty of justice if they make a decision based on "being tired of him". That would really cement Ricky as a victim in this process.

1st his confidentiality is violated without any repercussions or attempts to find out who did it and hold them acountable. I.M.O. the N.F.L. should fine the Broncos big time until they turn over the leaker, then the N.F.L. (if you are correct) potentially shuts the door on a mans career because "they are tired of him".

Extremely Weak!!!!! :fire: Lets hope the NFL has more integrity then you give them credit for.

Personally, I think that a 7 hour hearing that lasted longer than expected causing Ricky to miss a flight back to So. Fla is a good sign that there is meat in Ricky's appeal.

According to Adam Schefter on the NFL Total Access show this morning, Ricky "Could be gone a year...or longer" if he loses his appeal.

I'm not sure if that means the league can suspend him longer than a year, or if it means that if he is suspended, he is likely to leave the NFL altogether.

Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice...........................

It does not matter if it was Marijuana or not. this would be his Fourth Violation of the Substance abuse program. and that carries aMinimum one year suspention.

"You fail in Stage 3, the penalty is, in the NFL’s own words, BANISHMENT! First for a minimum of one year, second, while it is on a case by case basis the chances of maintaining your career are pretty slim. Start looking at a new line of work."

No, it is the Minimum they could ban him for life.
