Its still 34? Wasnt he supposed to change it to a number that was divisible by four because its "good luck" or something ?

It's still #34. He was going to change it to 27(i think), but the NFL wouldn't allow him to do so.

Oh yes thats right because of marketing. Sorry that just popped into my head

yea, he was gonna change it to 27, because its divisble by 9...which is like a "complete" number...

I can understand the NFL's "marketability" argument, but c'mon, if a player wants to change his number he should be able to do so. If anything Ricky switching to 27 could drive MORE sales, because fans of him will have to buy a new Ricky jersey for his new # even if they weren't planning on buying another Ricky jersey before, when he was still #34. What would happen if Ricky went to another team and 34 wasn't available and whoever had it wouldn't give it up, he'd HAVE to be a different number, so what's the difference? I think pretty much anybody who was going to buy a #34 Ricky jersey has already done so, before his "retirement" so let the guy change his number if that's what he wants. I bet sales of a #27 Ricky jersey would be more than sales of a #34 Ricky jersey since his return.

well 34 is like his trademark since he cut off his other trademark ( dreads)
thanks a lot nublar

the NFL does not want any players in control of anything. remember when sapp said the NFL was like a slave ship and they just wanted players to take their money, shut up and not even think for themselves? well i agree with it to some point. i think the comparision is strong, considering what the slaves went through, but theres some truth to what Sapp said.
