At the beginning of the season it would have been pretty stupid to trade Ricky W. away for nothing because he still is a NFL talent. Now that he has played some games and shown that he can still be a good NFL running back has his trade value went up? Before we couldnt have gotten a 3rd out of him, what do you think he would be worth today?

Personally I dont like the idea of trading him away, but then I would like to see RB get the biggest portion of the carries. So I think if you can get a 1st or an early 2nd for him. We need to really consider trading him away. If not, I say hang onto him and let his value go up again next year, or use him in a player for player trade. Maybe to help us get our franchise QB.

So what do you think? What's he worth today?

Nothing more than a conditional pick. He would have to meet a lot of requirements for the pick to be a 3rd. Plus, Ricky is still flakey enough to retire again if traded.

your wrong, he could go for a 1st or 2nd because his cheap contract. think abnout how many teams would give up a lot to get a player of rickys caliber for the league minimum.

I really don't think Ricky has any trade value, other than maybe a 6th or 7th. His past still haunts him and I think he brings more value to the Dolphins than anybody else. There's nothing wrong with having two good RB's, look at KC. You kind of need a second back in case your first goes down like Priest did and because of that, KC is still in the hunt. Just my opinion.

Chepa contract is one thing, but tainted past is another. The raiders were the only team that would have taken a gamble on Ricky IMO. They have the Norv connection and like taking risks on talented players with character issues. However, now they have Jordan and don't need him.

Plus, think of all the teams who don't need a running back. there are only a handful that do.

He will not play for another team at his current pay rate. There is no reason for him to do that for another team. For this team, there are 8.6 million reasons for him to play at his current salary.

If Edge and Alexander can't garner a first round pick and possibly couldn't even garner a second (according to rumor), then Ricky won't either. The highest we could get is a third...... and I'd take it.

Still too soon to tell. A team with a strong roster but no RB might be willing to part with a 2d rounder or another starter. Given the talent of Sammy Morris, I would make the trade in a heartbeat for the pick or a starter in a need area.

good point about his salary.

but i think a 2nd is the best we'll get for him.

Keep on mind that those 2 guys were gonna cost a LOT of money.Anyone in the NFL would have gladly given a 2nd for any of those 2 guys in they weren't gonna cost so much money agaisnt the cap.Now I'm not saying they'll give up a 2nd for Ricky but they'd had for those 2 guys if the money had been right.

Ozzy rules!!

Agreed. I would take a 3rd for Ricky in a NY minute.

Their has been about 30 thread discussing Ricky's trade value. Once again, I really don't think we will trade him and even if we do, it wont be for much.

If Ricky was to be traded and i hope he isn't I don't believe he will play for the league minimum. Ricky has got to pay the dolphins back what he owes them. Even if Ricky plays for the dolphins next season he will have a different contract. Which will help him pay the dolphins back sooner. No team is going to get Ricky for the league minimum next season.

I agree, I think its time we put Ricky behind us and move on.

I'm inclined to keep Ricky. That said, once the season is over and we see where the cards stack up regarding the 1st round of the draft, Saban might then consider using Ricky to move up without having to lose too much in the way of draft picks.

It might be very palatable for a team like Houston, for instance, to keep Carr, trade down with the Dolphins to pick up an OL and get Ricky as well. I could see Ricky and a 3rd or 4th next year being worth 2-3 spots at the top of the first round.

Shaun Alexander and Edgerin James couldn't be traded for a 1st, not one team in the league would give more then a fourth for Ricky given his history. Since we have Ricky locked up for quite a few years, I say keep him and as the O becomes more stable we use him as a serious weapon in passing game and it seems as though many teams are starting to use a two back backfield.
