It's best to curve your expectations. He's been out of the NFL for the better part of two years. He's only coming back because he's broke. I doubt you'll see the same runningback you remember. I seriously doubt anyone other than people on this board will refer to him as a "beast"!

Ricky's best weight was actually in the 215 range he played at in 2002. Ricky was in the 230 range in New Orleans and could barely break a run over 35 yards. He may have been strong but he was anything but quick.

I agree 215-220 would be ideal. I think he was in the 220-225 range in 02.

Ricky will be alright!

I think he was more like 220 and he was fast and bruising! RICKY was a BEAST and I think still will be! He was so used to having 30+ carries that he didn't know what to do when he was given the chance to share carries with Ronny (which he always complained about to many carries) the fact is that he was a rushing leader when he also lead the league in carries...

I could easily be wrong, but i thought Ricky looked smaller this past year then ever before. When he had those couple outstanding years he looked much bigger to me.

But maybe thats cause the locks we gone, i dunno haha.

You're not alone in that assessment.

Ricky is going to be fine. trust me, if he wasn't, why in the world have the last 4 coaches raved about him? After all he's put us through.... and he's still here? hmmmmmm..... must be for a reason.

Ricky Williams played at 230 for us of solid muscle. His died consisted of pork, french fries and lots of greens. When he use to play for New Orleans he use to weight close to 245-255 lbs. That was a crazy idea by Ditka and he look like a fullback and could not break the long one. When he came in here, Wanny was smart and wanted him to backtrack to 230-235 lbs and he had the best seasons ever by a dolphin because of that. He played last year at 215 lbs and was not conditioned to play for us so that is why he got injured.

Some players stop the use of performance enhancement drugs so naturally you'll see them lower their weight. These are things the media doesn't tell you because its behind close doors but its the truth.

Those two don't belong in the same sentence.(Wanny/Smart).

As mentioned - Ricky was 250 in NO. When he came to the Phins, Wanny had him drop to 225-230 and he was dominant. The next year, he dropped to 215 and while quicker, was no longer bowling through people like the year before.

If Ricky could come into this camp with a full offseason, fully motivated, his chest recovered, and weighing a good 225 - he is capable of returning to form.

FWIW - I hope that happens as RB will not be at 100% until NEXT year.
