ok. this year we are basically looking at this scenario. we have carey on the left. this last year he played well enough to warrant another year on the left. or so the consensus seems to indicate. now. this draft really doesnt seem to have a no ****, cant miss prospect. ala: ogden, pace.
so heres the deal as i see it. carey can play right and play it well. however hes shown that we might be able to play left well. now do we draft a RT and build from there? or do we let things stand on the right side? draft a stud guard and wait till next year and hope the next pace comes out then draft him?
of course ol vern could be starting to really establish himself as a top left tackle. thus we would have set our line back a year. cause we didnt address the right side, in this tackle deep draft.
but then again. if we draft a stud right tackle. then the new ogden comes out next year. what do we do with vern? i think hes to good a player to just trade away. depending on the offer of course.
my opinion is lets go with what we know. keep vernon on the left. get a stud to lock down the right. if he pans out. our bookends are set. if carey continues his improvement, we have a HUGE piece to the puzzle.
im a huge believer in the trenches first. so lets set them up solid and strong.
