I know it's not Dolphins or even NFL related, but wanted to take a moment to pay respect for the passing of Muhammad Ali. His impact on the sports world, and a generation as whole, extended well beyond the sport of boxing.

I appreciate you just doing your job, and I figured it would be moved, but I don't believe this post should have been buried in the lounge form. The passing of Muhammad Ali is bigger than that in my opinion. However, now is not the time to debate or argue over such things.

I was lucky enough to see the thrilla in Manilla at a big screen pay per view event. Even though both fighters were past their prime the the heart on display was incredible. Ali sit down in the middle of the round completely exhausted. Joe's face looked like Swiss cheese it was so cut up.

That was the golden age of boxing in my opinion with Ali , Frazier , Norton and later Foreman .

Can still remember hearing Howard Cosel yelling ..' Down Goes Fazier, Down goes Frazier.....I agree it's was truly Boxing at its peak all because of Ali .....

Ali won me over, but not by his boxing. As a young lad I detested his loud mouth ways and wanted to see him get whipped, which, of course, did not happen. It was not until after he was stripped of his title (and I was almost draft age), that I began pulling for him and once he returned to the ring I was in his corner all the way. Ali was, imo, "The Greatest" not because of his boxing skills but because of his commitment to stand and fight for his principles despite of the unpopularity of the masses. RIP, Champ.
