Rishard Matthews on trade block? (ESPN)

Because of the fact Matthews isn't under contract after this season AND the fact anyone with a brain realizes we aren't exactly making a playoff push, why would anyone feel allegiance to him? Someone (not MIA) is going to overpay for him in the off season - so all of you emotional fans are begging to keep him for 9 games and get NOTHING in return for him?? Your only rebuttal to this is you either think A. He'll re-sign with us for a home town discount (LOL) or B. We are making the playoffs with him this year (again LOL). Let me zoom in for the slower folk - come next year at the draft, would you like a draft pick for Matthews, or not? Common sense to deal him now - you have to come to terms with the fact we are not currently contenders and he offers no long-term value. Business, folks!

I agree with you.. At this point offense and defense will need major upgrades.... We might even need to draft a QB (starter material, not backup to Tannehill) next year as well.

Agree! You need either someone special at QB, or a VERY talented team and a very taleted coaching staff.

I was referring to competition during training camp... It will bring the best out of Tannehill...

These competitions only end up messing up both qbs .

When one starts playing bad Miami will call for the backup, when the other plays bad they'll question why they benched the first one . This never works out unless your starter is an aging legend that the city loves .

Otherwise we'd end up in Houston like situation and you kill both QBs career

I have never had a positive word for Matthews.

This is a mistake. He has played well. Tag him in the offseason and see if he improves anymore. If he does give him a contract.

Franchise tag for a 2016 wide receiver will be $12.5 million plus
You'd have to have your head examined if you tag Matthews

Matthews should only be traded for a OL, MLB, or DB that can help us right now. No draft pick please.

And to think we wouldn't even have the problem of signing back all our own developed draft picks if Tannebum didn't spend all of the money on 1 player. 28 ****ing million in one season.. Ffs... Great job Ross, give a dumpster fire connoisseur reigns to your organization. Now you are the Miami Jets.

I'm all for trading him even though I love him....I can't see him staying in Miami considering he's never gotten along with coaches and he will command decent money. May as well get something for him.

Im sure NE will pick him up so he can star in the super bowl...

Yeah yeah, get over it. We'll be able to re-sign him if we want. Question is, do we really want to overpay for a player with one decent year in arguably our deepest unit? Doubtful.

I would rather do that verses 3-4 years at more guaranteed money. If he improves more sign him.

That's all speculation at this point. He should get wr2 money as that is the numbers he puts up and we can afford that. You do know that we lose Jennings next year and you're saying Matthews should be let go, so where is your depth at? Hazel? lol

Nope, no depth left. You'd just be left with another thin position per usual.

Selling high is always hard, but it's not a sure bet we're going to keep him after this year. He's going to hit the open market and we'll lose a bidding war like we did for Clay. He hasn't been extremely happy down here. We're not a successful team and we have a lot of competition at WR. We also don't have much money to spend so being able to re-sign Rishard is far from a sure thing. If we can get a 3rd or better it's very worth considering.

I would be okay with it if they started playing Parker. The guy is going to get overpaid like most WRs by somebody next season, meaning it's either going to be us or we lose him and get nothing.

I'm not so sure if he'll get overpaid. I don't think he's been hyped up that much. Him and Landry are a deadly combo with the right Qb.

Plus we have no idea how Paker will turn out. I hope not, BUT what if Parker busts? Landry, Matthews, and Stills is still a very nice group. Lets get a Qb who's a winner and plays with fire and i'm sure we'll be fine!

If we could get a 4th why not. I dont want to overpay him based on one solid year.
