Based on the poll i saw, most of you guys seem to want the dolphins to trade for Rivers.

What do you think San Diego will ask in return?

If they trade Rivers they will take around 8-10 million dollar cap hit. Chargers traded Manning for Rivers and got 3 draft picks. (3rd round that year, 1st round following year, 5th rd following year).

Rivers also comes at a premium since his salary cap will be much lower b/c his bonus will be "counted" against Chargers.

I think at the very least they would be asking for 2 first round picks.

Just curious what kind of package you think the Dolphins would be offering.

Personally, i think the price is too high and rather draft a QB in first or second round.

i dont think theyll ask for 2first rounders i actually think a top12 pick may do it....we may be able to sang him for a first and a player

The best I could do is a 5th & a 6th. Take it or leave it.

& they'd leave it which is good because I don't want his overrated butt.

i wouldnt give 2 first round picks, but it would be good with a next years first and a this years 2nd or 3rd.

I think that if were gonna get another good qb were gonna have to take a risk.. look at what the bengals went through.. bust after bust after bust... but they finally have their man. You have to really invest in qb;s and take a chance on them. Thats whay we did with aj.. and i wouldnt mind investing in phillip

I think i heard the going rate for a guy like rivers would be this year's 1st and 4th rders... of course everyone knows if you wanna give up a pick next year, it usually bumps up a rd, so it would be like a 1st this year and a 3rd next...

I dont know about that. Because, in essence, they used a first round pick (number 1 overall, considering the trade) for Rivers, and if they trade him for a first round pick and a 4th round pick, they basically only got a 4th round pick out of a 2 year investment and a large cap hit.

The first round picks cover each other. So are they willing to take a large cap hit for only a 4th round pick? I doubt it.

I think they'll look for 2 first round picks, and some team will give it up.

That's about what I was thinking, a 1st and a 3rd next year sounds about right.

I like Rivers but I'm not sure Miami should offer anymore than a 2nd rd pick. The fact is Rivers has not beat out Drew Brees for a starting spot. Too bad were he got drafted, he has had the opportunity and has yet to live it up to the 4th pick. Brees was graded a mid 2nd rounder when he came out.

hmmm lets see they already got 3 draft picks for him soooooooo
ill give a high 4th this year and if he has a good year another pic the following year, if we have a bad year this year i high 4th wouldent be bad
mabe we should wait and see how next years draft plays out :)

Eli Manning was #1 overall. Rivers was #4. Also, the Chargers were handsomely compensated already for giving up the #1 overall to the NY Giants. Everyone in the NFL knows that San Diego MUST get rid of one of their QB's. Rivers would net them the most return. I think a 1st and 3rd next year will close the deal...if not less.

I'm a little bit concerned about that too, but I would be willing to give up a first round pick for him. However, there are too many teams in the league that *need* a franchise QB and one of them will be willing to give up a lot for him. And I somehow doubt the Chargers will be willing to unload him for a first and fourth round pick. The asking price will be 2 number 1s. That way they get back the number 1 they spent on Rivers to begin with and they get back an additional first round pick.
