Rob Ryan?

The difference between Rob Ryan and Rex Ryan was that Rex Ryan latched on with Baltimore, a class organization that really taught him how to be a pro. He was there for nine years, first as a defensive line coach under Marvin Lewis and then under Brian Billick and finally a year under John Harbaugh. He won a Super Bowl, was a part of top teams that consistently made the playoffs, and just... learned.

Rob on the other hand has bounced around, first with New England and then to a series of trashy Oakland Raider teams under Norv Turner, Art Shell and Lane Kiffin. Then to Cleveland, to Dallas and now with the Saints.

As a result he didn't get the same level of training as a coach that Rex did and has never really learned how to act as a professional. I don't think he's ready.

Rob Ryan has the personality needed to bring this team an identity. Would I hire him? @#$@ no!!!

Philbin or Ryan ?

Spock or Grizzly Adams ?

These two are complete opposites.

And if you count the parallel universe, you've sure got a lot of 'em!

I have dedicated losers that spend their days no thanking me but that is an honor b/c that means they love me and care about me.

Researcher: The average radio listener listens for eighteen minutes a day. The average Howard Stern fan listens for - are you ready for this? - an hour and twenty minutes.
Kenny: How could this be?
Researcher: Answer most commonly given: "I want to see what he'll say next."
Kenny: : All right, fine. But what about the people who hate Stern?
Researcher: Good point. The average Stern hater listens for two and a half hours a day.
Kenny: : But... if they hate him, why do they listen?
Researcher: Most common answer: "I want to see what he'll say next."

Actually you're #3 in the "thanks received" category
http://www.finheaven.com/thanks.php

Aside from him being the runaway "winner" in all this time, (and keep in mind the no thanks option hasn't been around too long), if there were 15 of those total coming from me, it's a lot.

someone has self esteem issues.

OK don't bash me for this but I was thinking if we do decide to start over with a new GM and HC why not give Rob Ryan a shot? I imagine the competition between brothers will be great. He knows some of his tricks and I am sure Rex knows some of his. He is a loud mouth like his brother but the man can coach. The Cowgirls are dead last in defense after he left. He turned around the Saints D from dead last to actually pretty decent. I like him. What do you think?

And you guys bash the Jets fans for Rex????? That would be too funny!

I don't bash the Jets for Rex. He is obnoxious, loudmouth and a idiot at times but man can he coach. I wouldn't mind having him as our coach. He can beat the Pats without a great team and Sanchez as your QB.

I can honestly say that I am happy with the way Ryan has handled the team this year, I think he has turned a corner. He will be back with the Jets next season. And I love our new GM.

What the H has Rex done in NY? Most thought he was done after the 49 point blow up and he's hanging on by a thread. I would take him in a sec for DC but HC, no thanks.

If Rex hangs on, he's definitely got your new GM to thank for administering tough love. Itzdick arrived in January, obviously got a lay of the land and informed Ryan that his outmoded offensive philosophy and reliance on the likes of Little Schotty and The Meatball have ended... and that he was hiring Morningwood in March whether the foot perv liked it or not. Anyone who thinks it was Rex's decision only need harken back to him calling Sparano his "mini me" and letting his offense continue to falter without either replacing him or insisting he change his offensive philosophy. IMO, Itzdick hired Marty with an eye toward him replacing Rex as the HC in waiting. If you think this was RR's decision especially when he was on the ropes, then I've got a shiny bridge available for you on a clearance sale. So yeah, Itzdick has been doing well, there's no denying it. Rex's defense is stalwart, fersure, but his GM deserves the lion's share of the credit for whatever success they end up achieving. Don't forget that when facing opponents who play their starters full games, Rex still has only 1 winning season out of 4.

Marty first interviewed on 1/11
Idzik didn't become GM until 1/18

Idzik’s arrival came on the same day Coach Rex Ryan made the most critical decision of his tenure, choosing Marty Mornhinweg, who spent the previous 10 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, as the team’s offensive coordinator.

wrong as usual

and rex has 2 winning seasons and only 1 losing season in 4 years which is something that would be celebrated w/ parades in Miami if that ever happened down there again.

well you're right about the March hire being wrong, but it looks like MM was hired on 1/18 about the time Izdick was hired. If you think Rex, the guy who saw himself in Sparano voluntarily hired Morningwood without being told to by either Izdick or Woody as a provision of the new GM agreeing to terms including being stuck with MM.. after a few other GM candidates made the franchise look bad by turning them down, again I've got a bridge in Bklyn I can sell you cheap. And Rex has one winning season when facing opposing starters for complete games. (those same starters who outscored his team 45-27 over about 1.5 games (pro-rating out to about 60 to 36 over 2 complete games).

Marty interviewed w/ rex before Idzik interviewed w/ Woody. Rex brought in Marty. It's ok to give him credit sometimes.
