I'm hoping to see the Dolphins Draft Robert Cleary late in the draft or sign him if he goes undrafted. He's a former player and a real grinder that would be another Hadnot on our OL. He is 6'8 315 and will be starting this weekend against USC.....check him out!
Players he will remind you of other than Hadnot:
Seattle OG Hutchinson
Former Miami OT Heller

I make sure to catch the game. Despite the great OL play of late, I still hope we pick up 1-2 lineman. I'm sure Houck is a great evaluator of talent.

I'd like to see him in a Fins uniform. We have pretty weak Guard depth anyhow. Jeno James is the only guard listed as LG and Ephraim has to fill in at RG at times.

Send an e-mail to houck Mike. I'm serious. Guys have gotten picked up like this before by virtue of a former coach. Is that how Fiedler got back into pro ball? May be wrong on that but seems like there was somebody we picked up that came that through that route in a round about way.

6'8"? Holy crap, at that height he has to project as a Tackle in the pros.

That, or he'll blow out his back in the first year.

nfldraftscout.com, which is the site that Dave Te' Thomas works for, rates him as the 91st best guard amongst the seniors. Thomas is one of the more well regarded college scouts on the internet, so someone, perhaps him, is way off in their eval of Cleary.

Hell yeah he is a whole 4 inches taller than me. Surely he will end up at tackle with that frame though. if he is that good can someone post what sort of a game he has

Yeah, but if you are in the top 100 anything goes. Seriously if you get any mention you must be doing something right ?

Isn't 6'8" a little tall for a guard? It would seem to me that defensive tackles would find it easy to get under his pads at that height. Plus, if you've ever got a QB throwing that is 6'2" or 6'1", wouldn't Cleary's head and shoulders block the QB's view?

In High School, nfldraftscout.com says that he earned three varsity letters as a defensive end and offensive tackle, playing for Coach Bob Burt at Temescal Canyon High in Lake Elsinore, CA. Dolfan Mike, are you on the coaching staff there, presuming that information is correct?

Does he have good footwork and long arms? He is really tall for an NFL Guard, and the perfect size for a Tackle.

I spoke to Roberts brother yesterday (We teach at same School) and he shared with me some news about Roberts rating (90's at OG)....
His projection was hurt by the fact that he hasnt got to start every game this season. UCLA's OL coach (and staff) made the decision to start a younger player over Cleary and another starter when they played cream puffs early in the season to get them some play time before they really take over as starters next year. I think it's total BS to do that to your players, but apparently UCLA has a history of doing that under this current staff. This much I know, He was a better High School player (BY FAR) than Kyle Turley, whom I also coached. Kyle was a better prospect though in college. Cleary could well be the next guy that comes out and walks on to some team and has a 10-12 year career in the NFL. He's a great team player and person. Very pyhsical at 6'8 315...... and yes he has the mean streak.

Robert doesnt expect to be drafted, or to go late if he does. He comes from a great family, I also coached his Brothers, Mac (LB) and Dan Cleary (DE), both of SDSU.
