Anyone have any word on how they look in practice? I'm curious about their status.

They might be considering Eckel or Cobbs for the active roster...

If they bring Eckel up with Ronnie sidelined for a while, would he be seeing more running duty than Barnes has been seeing? Or would his primary responsibility be blocking?

Primarily special teams, my guess. Remember, the increase of duties for Sammy and Travis means less duties on special teams. My guess is that Eckel is a better STs performer than the mush smaller Cobbs, given that they're of similar speed but Eckel is a lot bigger and is a fullback by trade. That's just a guess.

hate to pose this question...but is it true that Eckel was discharged from the navy for being homosexual?I was told by a fellow dolfan that the kind of discharge that they give him was for that situation. Not sure if it's true or not. Can anyone clarify his discharging.

Even if it's true - SO WHAT. That's his personal life and none of our business.

Your right stupid question to ask. I didn't think it was true anyways.

It should be his teammates business, IMO. They (more than likely) have undressed in front of him. Most of the world likes to play politically correct, but I would rather be honest. I wouldn't want to be naked around a gay man. I'd imagine they would feel the same way.

That's the first time I've heard any insinuation that he was discharged for being a homosexual. He was charged legally with being present while a female cadet was sexually assaulted.

Going into conspiracy theories here, but he did have those charges dropped against him for no stated reason whatsoever. Perhaps with the charges, to prove his own innocence, he presented evidence that he was gay?

Would explain why the Navy was forced to discharge him for what they claim was a completely unrelated, yet completely secret other matter.

And btw, I'm not one of these shush birds that will tell someone not to speak openly about this kind of stuff. Personally I think casual dialogue about a subject is the way to end bigotry, not the way to keep it going. Shushing everything allows bigotry to quietly continue.

i think he actually technically resigned from the navy. had something to do with his ability to play in the NFL when he technically owed service to the navy. thats the explanation i read a couple of days ago. i think its his side of the story, but it supposedly had to be done to make sure there wouldnt be a legal situation if anything regarding his service to the navy came up while he was in the nfl
