Did anyone see how Rod looked at mini-camp? Is he healthy? Was he working with 2nd or 3rd teams?

I think I read that he's Vonnie Holliday's backup at the DT/3-4 DE position. So, barring any injuries, he should see some time as long as he plays to his potential.

He owned Chris Liwienski and Jonathan Ingram on one-on-one's.

Which is pretty damn good for 7th Rounder Rodrique Wright, but not necessarily saying much for First Day Rodrique Wright (which many people insist is the real Rod Wright, if not for the shoulder injury).

You are going to ride that into the ground, huh? lol

Lets see what happens when the players are in full pads and contact drills in training camp. Players in shorts during minicamps is equivalent to ballet dancing. Full contact practices in full pads will separate the men from the boys.

yeah but he is another guy im excited about because if he heals up right he could be an absolute steal taking him so late and yeah he had to sit out a year but it could have been well worth the wait for us....here's hoping

Plus we need the youth at the D-line position. Heres hoping hes healthy and plays up to that potential we keep hearing about.

Hey, with our history of draftpicks the last ten years, I'll take good performances against any competition from any our previous drafted players. It looks like young Rodrique might actually be a contributor.

Exactly. If he and Paul Soliai can give us quality minutes, along with Matt Roth and Fred Evans, suddenly our defense doesn't seem so old.

This is the NFL not HS football practice, they are all men. No one is going to get punked out in a hitting drill in the NFL.

Doesnt matter if they are in shorts, they still have helmets & shoulder pads and were talking about linemen, all their work is up top in a one on one blocking drill, I doubt they were going to chop block so who needs leg pads?

If Wright was beating someone it shows good technique and upper body strength.

Wright can play, not a need to worry about ballet dancing. GO HORNS!!

I dont see him starting this year but hopfully he can show us what he got..

We obviously are bulking up the D-line for the future.. Bruce, R. Wright, A. Wright, Vickerson, Evans, Love and Soliai... Obviously only 2-3 are making the roster however...

That's good to hear. I have a feeling about this guy. Whatever you want to say about Saban, I think his drafts, at least on the defensive side of the ball weren't all that bad. Our D-line is strong, and Roth & Roderique Wright should make the squad again this year, both pushing for starting time. Manny Wright was a bust for us, but at least we sent this loser to a division rival. Jason Allen possesses the tools to be a good corner. He couldn't handle the Safety position mentally last year, maybe in a couple of years, but in the meantime, we have a bigger weakness at corner than safety in my opinion assuming Jerimiah Bell can remain healthy.

In any case, good to hear about Wright...
