Okay, how much did we save by trading him on our cap? And how much would we have saved by cutting him? For the record, I would have rather kept him, but..ehh.

We traded him for good vibes in the locker room. The other players wanted to see good things happen for Rodgers. He has been popular with the other players and accepted a paycut "for the team" earlier in the year. He wanted to go "home" to New Orleans where he grew up. This is a class move by a class organization. The 7th rounder which is better than the nothing we would have gotten had we released him next Monday is salve for only saving $250K instead of the $1mill we would have saved next week by a release.
