Dolphins Sign DT Rodrique Wright; Release QB Justin Holland

July 29, 2006
The Miami Dolphins today signed defensive tackle Rodrique Wright, the second of their three seventh-round draft choices this year, to a four-year contract. Also on Saturday, the team waived quarterback Justin Holland, who had been signed by the club as an undrafted college free agent out of Colorado State on May 5.

I was a little concerned there for a little bit that Wright would pull some sheninigans in terms of asking for higher pay because of his injury limiting his draft spot.

Thats weird..i thought for sure that Justin showed more promise than brock did...

Yeah that sucks I didnt think Justin would make the team, but thought he could make the practice squad. He may still but seems like not since they didnt take him to camp.

justin was impressive in mini camps.im suprised hes gone.its good to get wright into camp. i want to see what hes made of

Well, they can allways put him in th PS arent they? Or it just dont work like that?

Maybe they wanted to do Justin right and let him find a team where he might stick as the 3rd string guy. They cut him early enough for him to get a full training camp with somebody else.

I am surprised by both moves.I thought Wright might re-consider entering next years draft and I thought Holland was making an impression.

That means we will probably maintain Brock Berlin on the practice squad again unless they are considering Vick for that spot.

i thought holland had more potential tha brock berlin...i guess nick sees that berlin has more to offer

Rodrique is pissed, not ungrateful and stupid. I doubted he was going to re-enter the draft.
