Did anybody else watch the Baseball congressional inquiry ? I did and I must comment on a 2 or 3 things. (yea I know it was 2 mo. ago)
First in 1986 if you didnt know jose Canstrikeout wuz on steroids U are 2 dumb 2 B a sports fan. Second and really most important I have sympathy for the familys of the 2 dead kids that testified I REALLY DO!! But, cmon' now take some responsability PARENTS Yes some baseball players have used steroids but to say that those same players/rolemodels are 2 blame for your childs use is ABSURD! I know in the 70's and 80's (Parents) tried to blame rock-N-Roll/metal for drug abuse and suicide but in each of those cases I'll bet there was a timid,scared,undereducated or worse disintrested parent to blame. Now when your child goes into a Steroid/whatteva induced rage and goin' bannanas you cannot say you didnt know anything was wrong at the very least U have an addiction issue that ought to be dealt w/ . also Congress's involvent bothers me on many levels if they can just assum an athority state when ever they want we dont really need taglibu,sten,(forgot the baseball commish. name?) and who asked em 2 anyway ? voters? oh,..Bush, that explains it makin up his own rules as he goes: what constatution? and I am for life long ban's through all sports for a second violation.

I am with the University of Wisconsin professor who thinks all roids should be legal and that the Major Leagues of sports should have doctors available to make sure the athletes are taking them properly!

And what would that acomplish but put the honest, hard worker that dosn't want to use drugs to get ahead at a disadvantage?


On topic, I don't see how you can blame parents for steroid use in their kids. I'm sure no parent wants to see their kids on steroids, and it is harder for a teen to understand how much worse it can be for you than drugs that schools "program" kids on the effects it will have on them.

I think steroids should be legal. If cigarettes are and they have long term effects on your health, what's wrong with steroids?

You're comparing apples and oranges. While they are both bad for your health, steroids are a performance enhancer while cigarettes aren't. Suggesting athletes should be allowed to taint the sport by taking steroids isn't right.
The history associated with the sport would go out the window. Might as well close the HOF. I hope it never happens, but after the Rose scandal, the Canseco scandal, I wouldn't be surprised.

So you're telling me Ty Cobb was on roids ? How bout the Babe ? Koufax ?
Obviously 'roids we're part of the game during the 70's until the late '90's but does that mean we should legalize it ? Cocaine was part of the game and still is. Do you suggest that we should legalize it for athletes ?
That Steinbrenner should provide the powder and the trainers should make sure 'the athletes are taking them properly' ? Both are mainstream and both taint the sport. That doesn't mean we should legalize them.
Just give me one good reason why it should be legalized.

and that makes it safe and o.k.? personally I could really careless If youre not talented enough 2 keep up w/ the pac and U feel like U gotta cheat 2 win eventually we'll all see U/them for what they are . And how long people have been cheating Alzado/mtuzack/Romonowski/janakowski and any other ski's you can think of we all now knowthem for what they were, cheaters. I just dont think it's right 2 blame organized sport for the prob. thanx 4 the input though.
