he New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Ronald Bartell has decided to re-sign with the Rams.
The Saints' offer apparently wasn't lucrative enough. New Orleans didn't extend a proposal until late Sunday after hosting him on Friday. No other teams jumped into the race. Bartell will return as the Rams' No. 1 corner.

I would have liked him or bodden... however by the looks of it, we wont try for bodden either

I think CB is a position where we might as well draft a guy and sign a backup

every FA seems to think he is Champ Bailey

$5 million a year for Goodman? uh pass

Rams re-signed CB Ronald Bartell to a four-year, $28 million contract. The deal includes $13.6 million guaranteed.

St. Louis kept him for $2.9M less in guarantees than Domonique Foxworth over the same contract length. Bartell, 27, was a second-round pick in 2005 and took a few years to transition from D-II Howard, but has developed into a reliable cover man and tackler. He has eight picks in his last three seasons and broke up 19 passes in 2008. The Rams still need to find a viable bookend. Perhaps the light will flip on for Tye Hill under Steve Spagnuolo, but we doubt it. Mar. 2 - 4:51 pm et

The farther this thing goes the more likely we draft or trade for a CB. I love the fact that we aren't overpaying for talent, but we aren't so deep that we have the luxury to sit on our hands and hope the draft saves us. I'm more convinced than ever that next year is not our year and we will be lucky to be in position to win a tiutle for another three years at this rate.

I agree FA isn't the way to build a team, but it can be a nice source to fill a few needs. I would rather spend a little money on FA and draft their backups to be their replacements than to not sign anyone and throw the rookies into the fire and crossing your fingers and hope they succeed right out of the gate.

I fail to see the logic in waiting till theres no talent left in FA to fill needs just to save some money. We now only have one starting CB, who are we gonna put on the field? A FA that no one wants or a rookie? I sure wish I kew how that makes any sense at all.
