OK let's make this a fun thread. Give us a play designed around Ronnie and Ricky's being on the field at the same time. The play can be designed to go to anyone, but Ronnie and Ricky have to be on the field when the ball is snapped (not necessarily in the backfield).

Now if you have more of a head for football, tell us what the play is designed to do to the defense as well. For example, Ronnie's splitting out wide may be designed to get him matched up on a LB or safety.

Let's hear it -- be inventive and ingenious here.

I think the two back set where one goes out and one goes up the middle. The hand off up the middle and the pitch would be very effective IMO.

exactly what I was going to say.;)

I know this is not realistic, but (for fun anyway):

It'd be sweet if they ran some sort of OPTION play where they hand off to Ronnie, but he has the option to pitch it to Ricky or keep it.

I've actually seen that play run in the NFL. It happens about once every 5 years, but it happens.

run I form, Ronnie at fullback ricky at halfback... you run a few times the quick handoff to the right with ronnie... with the fake pitch to ricky... or you fake the handoff to ronnie up the middle and pitch to ricky... if you run that a few times first with ronnie up the gut it'll open up that pitch for ricky with a lot of room, especially if mcmike is leading the way... heres my diagram, haha

Then it's 2 and long, another run up the gut for nothing then on 3 an incomplete pass, then punt. But remember punting is not a bad thing

That up the middle w/ Ronny and/or pitch to Ricky was already used in a preseason game against tampa.

If you can run up the middle consistantly you won the game. Plus it sets up the pitch. Plus it is stupid to never run up the middle.

This is Football, but it doesnt have to be "old-school" football. The Up-the-Middle (ie. 3 yards in a cloud of dust) only works if you can get the 3 yards.

All plays have a purpose and can be used during the course of a game, but pounding the ball up the middle, for the sake of pounding the ball up the middle is futile practice without results.

Right now, I dont have a great play, but what I do see is misdirection with running plays, and spreading the defense with matchups being most effective with the expected talents of Rickey and Ronnie together in passing situations.

Whether its running or passing getting mismatches with LB trying to cover them will be fun to watch.

I suspect Linehan is already thinking about some of this as well.
