Wasn't the reason this guy was one heartbeat away from being the #1 college prospect in the country because he could run a 4.3 in the 40.

Is he running away from anyone but defensive lineman?

Also, when he runs, he kinda waddles like some kid that just went through a growth spurt and doesn't really have control of everything yet.

He's like a bull and the best in years when he's tackled up high...but this is the NFL and guys like him ilicit strictly knee shots from most defenders.

Randy McMichael is officially a clumsy, slow, awkward fat-body who looks to be catching the ball with two bats instead of hands. I want the old McMike back.

Anyone agree?

Prepare to get bashed for suggesting Brown is not a God. I agree for the most part though, he is not fast doesnt make quick cuts he only gets what the line gives him and doesnt even capitalise on that today is a perfect example had he tried to stiff arm or at least put a shoulder into the one guy between him and the endzone he might have had a TD instead he steps out of bounds at the 12 while holding hands with the defender. Even the announcers were making fun of him.

The forty is the most overrated measurement at the combine. Pro agility is the most important measurement of a football player's speed. I think he scored high in that one too.

I agree. Brown is not elusive, doesn't make cuts to avoid tacklers, and runs standing up too often. He invites contact to often instead of breaking tackles when it's needed, he runs directly into the defender. He also very rarely is able to out run the defense. I keep thinking back to the Panthers game last yr when he broke out and got chased down. Even though it appeared he pulled something, he was going to be caught regardless.

You are 100000% right!!!!!!!!! But you will get bashed anyway. People hate the truth when it hurts. Its kinda like getting pissed at your girlfriend if she catches you cheating with another woman. People get defensive when the truth hurts. Thats life.

He gained 127 yard Sunday. If you are going to bash him, perhaps you should do it after one of his 40 yard games. I thought he was fast enough Sunday.

he is not fast regardless of his yards. We are all happy about his performance but this topic is strickly about his speed.

Ronnie ran 4.4's not a 4.3 at the combine which is abiut average for a 1st rounder but excellent for a guy his size. Ronnie has had 2 subpar outings (Patriots & Steelers). The shave shut down a number of outstanding runners yesterday they held Larry Johnson to 26 yards on 15 carries, and the Patriot game was the result of horrible field conditions which negated any effective running from either team. Ronnie's output in the other 4 games were limited by the fact we're always playing catch up and in this game he could have ran for much more but we got behind... again. I'm not saying he's Barry Sanders (who he always seems to be compared to???????) but he's a solid RB.

3 perfect examples that Ronnie isn't a 4.4 speed guy, and if you don't agree, then it's obvious you either don't know football and/or are a complete homer.

1.) 4.4 guys would have been GONE once they hit that hole last year verse Carolina. IMO, the hammy pull up was a "save face" move. Because you never heard a thing about it the rest of the year. Hammy's just don't magically disappear if you pull them.

2.) 4.4 guys would have been GONE last year when they broke off the left side between tackle and guard last year verse Buffalo in Buffalo.

3.) 4.4 guys would have been GONE after turning the corner on Kerry Rhodes with a clear 25yds to the end zone.

Additional evidence: What was Ronnies longest run so far in his career? The 65 yarder verse KC last year...which in turn, came because he trucked someone, and there was absolutely no one left in the defensive backfield as he tiptoed down the sideline and ran to pay dirt because they were all blitzing up the middle.

I completely disagree. First of all, Ronnie officially ran a 4.4. Second, did you not see Ronnie straight burn a DB to the edge and blow by him? He was about to stiffarm him or drop his shoulder, and then just gassed it by him.

You are upset with Ronnie and McMike? They were 2 of our best players yesturday. Some people... :shakeno:

While I admit that Ronnie's been caught from behind more often than I'd expect, fact of the matter is Ronnie does run a 4.4. I know because they measure it with stopwatches, and then film it and put it on T.V. It's called the combine and I watched it.
The problem is not that Ronnie can't run 4.4, it's that lots of defenders in the NFL run 4.4 too.
