Well after someone jokely saying Ronnie at FB. I mentioned he'd be the only one at FB picked in the top 10 since Tommy V. Now Tommy V. went on to have a fairly successful career (in 97, or 98 he had more TD rushes than Barry Sanders, who happened to be on the same team). So IF, and that is the big point here, IF Ricky gets back to his old self, do you see Ronnie moving to full-time (or like 75%) FB? He has the ability to run the ball, catch the ball, and block. I know Linehan doesn't use alot of FB sets in his system though, that is another catch. Do you think a pro set is more likely? Share your thoughts...

they might both be on the field at the same time. and he may line up as a FB for a given formation, or set play. but no. no way will the #2 overall pick be set at FB, especially the way Williams ran agenst the bears.

Well the situation implied Ricky got back on track. :D Otherwise I expect Ronnie to start at HB. I also wouldn't mind seeing a pro set with no FB at all. My concern is Linehan loves the 2 WR 2 TE sets, and the 1TE 3 WR sets. Which both leave us with 1 back on the field. I fear a lack of utilization, but then again sharing carries just lengthens their careers, and offers the rest in games.

If you wanna look at it like that... they would also be alot fresher than the defenses that they would be facing making it easier to run over or away from defenders...

Very true.

Or even Roger Craig?

I dont see why we cant use Brown extensively at positions other then RB. He's got the skill.

I dont understand the adversion to playing Brown at other positions. He was drafted #2 as much for his other skills as he was running the ball. If he turns into an elite H-Back, a high-powered recieving version of Jim Kleinsasser, who is to say that is a waste? It would be no different from drafting someone like Kellen Winslow.

He's got the skills to line up at H-Back. He had more bench press reps then the TE drafted #1 last season, and a faster 40 time then 2 of the 3 WRs in the 1st round, and susposedly has great hands.

If Brown ends up taking 40% of the rushing stats, and ends up with something like 40% of the snaps at H-Back, I think that's a good contribution.

Ronnie WILL NOT START AT TB. I repeat. Ronnie WILL NOT START AT TB. Trust me on this. He will see PLENTY OF TIME at TB but Errick Williams WILL BE NAMED THE STARTING TAIL BACK. As for ROnnie at full back. YES we will see him line up most of the time When and ONLY when we use a fullback which we will find out is not a lot. BUT when we do you can look to see 3 WR Boston, Booker, Chambers. 2 Backs Rick / Ronnie. Ronnie at full back because this will get him matched up on either a Safty (good luck) or a MLB (greater good luck) I take my chancers either way. In additon you will se a basic i or off set I with McMike and we will motion Ronnie from the fullback spot to split end to get a clear match up on the OLB or a Hybrid guy like Vrabell or Willi (who cares if I spelled their names wrong)from the patriots and GOOD LUCK either one of them coving Ronnie. Once teams get hip to that you can then see the same Ronnie in motion from the backfield and Ricky catching swing passes matched up on the middle backer or a safty (niether will everr get there to cover him). Teams will have to make a choice either come out in base and risk rick and ronnie one on one with a backer or saftey or come out in Nickel and risk ricky and ronnie running over the 5th D back or sombody like James pulling around leading on your corner or something. either way we win. (TRUST ME ON THIS. I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT)

This is exactly what I was thinking. Brown has size, speed, hands, vision, tackle breaking skills, blocking skills... the kid has it all. To be honest he reminds me alot of Bo Jackson. But not as talented. We could virtually use him anywhere on the team. That also has to help the gameplan. When teams went up against Ricky, they knew exactly where he was, and where he was going. With Ronnie, it is like "Will he play WR? Will he TE? Will he play FB? HB?". He just has thw ability to move around. Changing the formations after lining up would be nice as well. Come out and I-form, next thing you know Ron slides out to WR. We could just use him so effectively. Not to mention less of a beating = longer career = less need to get a new back in a few years.

its a great one two punch anyway you set it and it will keep the defences of the other teams guessing more.

Well Ronnie Brown will atleast start the first 4 games. Ronnie Brown will be the most talented back on the team once he signs. Ricky was great before he retired, but I don't think a team uses the 2nd pick in the draft on a guy to play FB. Not only does Ronnie Brown have to start at Rb, and be successful, he's gotta become the face of the franchise in the next few years.
