WHAT'S NEW

Did the Dolphins finally buy into what coach Nick Saban was selling? Or did they benefit from a favorable schedule over the final six games last season?

In projecting what the Dolphins will do in 2006, it is impossible to ignore the six-game winning streak they finished last season with. They finished as the hottest team that didn't make the playoffs, and their 9-7 record turned around a 3-7 start in Saban's first year. Saban's message was consistent throughout the season, so it appeared at the end the team was catching on to his focused approach.

Kewl post. Lot's of info as well as good points. It's going to seem like forever till the season starts and we can see just what the Phins are going to do. IMO I see us doing very well with the regular season and getting into the Play-Offs.

The six game win streak had as much to do with catching on to Saban's teachings as it did a pretty easy schedule. I mean, at AFC East Report, we did Week 8 predictions of how we thought the AFC East would shake out. Back then I forget exactly what our record was, but it wasn't good. I predicted the whole AFC East finish to within like, one game. I think only the Patriots had one more win than I'd predicted. One of the things I predicted before it even happened, was a 6 game win streak to end the year. Actually I think I predicted a 7 game win streak, and was surprised by our showing in Cleveland.

The schedule dictated it. Oakland was trash, Buffalo was trash, the Jets were trash, Tennessee was trash, I figured the final game would probably not mean anything to the Patriots so they'd put their backups in...which was exactly what they did...and I just thought we matched up well against the Chargers.
