I'm not going to declare Brown a bust just yet, however in his first 2 games he's reminded me alot of one of Jimmy Johnson's old running backs J.J. Johnson....

He's running hard, but only for 2 yd gains...He doesn't seem as fast as they say he was and it seems he's trying to do too much with the ball.

Heck, Sammy Morris showed signs of a starter, and if you asked me right now, I'd have Sammy at the #2 RB spot, and Ronnie @ #3 until he proved otherwise....

The truth is we need Ricky in there, he's the our starting RB.

and to come to think some of you were startiong ridiciulous "trade Ricky" threads.....this outta calm those threads down.

Actually, you already did just call him a bust.

But the difference between JJ Johnson and Ronnie Brown is that Ronnie Brown is getting runs. About a third of Ronnie's runs have been for 5+ yards. Look it up.

Yep, and that's what I was afraid of when we drafted him. I took a look at all the film clips and didn't see anything special, really. Sure he had the 4.4 time at the combine, but so what? Sammie Smith ran a 4.4 too, and John Avery ran a 4.3.

The good thing is that he can always be moved to WR if he's a bust at RB. He's got the hands for it.

that's one thing i can give ronnie some credit for, he hasn't broken a big gain yet but he has had some nice little runs here and there. One reason his ypc is so low is because he constantly gets hit behind the line, but it dosen't help that he hesitates quite a bit. I say we need to hang in there with Ronnie he'll adapt to the game speed and i feel he'll be ok.

Yet people claim see him as the next o Jackson or something.I wasn't impress with him @ Aurburn.I bet Saban thought so much of him because he was use all over the place. He was used as a WR,FB and RB but bottom line he is not as good as Caddy and never will be.

you guys are rediculous on here. He's a freakin rookie, not jim brown. Whats going on here???? :fire:

I see more in RB than you do. I like how he sets up his tacklers. That's instinctive. I see him becoming an Eddie George type. Very good running back that a team can rely on and be built around, but not an elite running threat.

I agree on him being Eddie George type, which is why I think he should be move to FB where he can really excel.Ricky should be Fins rb until he wants to quit playing football and Ronnie the FB.

Ridiculous post.....JJ Johnson?...Please.

No one is going to run consistently behind this line right now, but I will agree that Ronnie is not ready yet, he is still to unsure of himself and that is why he is hesitating to hit holes hard, I would start Morris and spell him often with Ronnie and let Ronnie watch and figure it out.

This is getting so bad im thinking about leaving the finsheaven for a while. Its a great site thats getting ruined by stupidity. First off, didnt you see the other 100 ronnie brown sucks threads? Couldnt you have just posted this with all the other clowns. Why do people find it necessary to keep making threads about how a guy sucks 2 games into his career. Plus, its really 1 bad game because everyone said after week 1 that ronnie looked fine.

Are all of you naysayers going to come back and apologize for being unreasonable when ronnie turns out to be fine for us?

you have a very subjective opinion my friend. How do you know he'll never be as good as Caddy and how do you know Caddy will continue what he's started.

Thing is with RBs, its suppose to be the most instinctful position on the field....I tend to agree with that.
Ronnie may or may not be a superstar. We just do not know it yet. Caddy is getting some damn good run blocking for sure, but he is also the better runner and I believe he will ALWAYS be the better runner of the 2...because he seems to have better RB instincts than what Brown brings.

I think alot of RB's troubles is with the offensive line. They haven't opened up to many holes. When they have he's taken advantage of them. I think he needs to step it up, but he's progressing. Give him time. We played the jets who is always tough on the run against the dolphins.

I think we'll see some of that. Saban likes to keep his backs fresh though so I expect we'll see a rotation at HB.

None of the rookies including Cadilac, Benson or anyone else would excel behind this line. Some say he dances around until he hits the hole, what hole, he usually has first contact in the backfield. And to compare him to Sammie Smith and Avery, please, at least we still had a halfway decent line when they were getting their chances. Brown is struggling for two main reasons and they are, he is a rookie who came into camp a month late so he is learning that the NFL style of play is different from college and he is learning to adapt his running to probably one of the worst offensive lines in Pro Football. This was said by coach Saban; Coach Nick Saban said Brown's struggles have more to do with the offensive line than anything else.
Brown may not be as great as everyone hoped but I am sure he will be better and will offer Miami many different options out of the backfield.
