Here are how the top 10 picks from '05 draft have done so far this year.

Ronnie Brown (2nd overall pick): 122 carries, 464 rushing yards (3.80 ypc), 25 receptions for 216 yards receiving and 4 TDs in 7 games.

Cadillac Williams (5th overall pick):
104 carries, 394 rushing yards (3.79 ypc), 15 receptions for 76 receiving yards and 1 TD in 6 games.

Braylon Edwards the "star" WR for the Browns (3rd overall pick):
22 receptions, 357 yards receiving and 1 TD in 6 games.

Alex Smith (1st overall pick): 109 completions/183 passing attempts(59.6 completion %), 7.02 yards per attempts, 86.4 QB rating.

Troy Williamson (7th overall pick): 19 receptions, 274 receiving yards and 0 TDs in 6 games.

Cedric Benson (4th overall pick): 47 carries, 148 rushing yards (3.15 ypc), 3 receptions for 22 receiving yards and 2 TDs.

Mike Williams (10th overall pick): 0

Their were 3 cornerbacks taken in the top 10 (Pac Man Jones, Antrel Rolle and Carlos Rogers).....

Here are their career stats to date:
Ronnie Brown: 329 carries, 1,371 rushing yards (4.17 ypc), 57 receptions for 448 receiving yards and 9 TDs. Funny, Brown should get about that many carries in a season..........great playcalling.

Cadillac Williams: 394 carries, 1,572 rushing yards (3.99 ypc), 35 receptions for 157 receiving yards and 7 TDs.

Braylon Edwards: 54 receptions, 869 receiving yards and 4 TDs in 16 games.

Alex Smith: 193 completions/348 passing attempts, 6.21 yards per attempts, 64.8 QB rating.

Troy Williamson: 43 receptions, 646 receiving yards and 2 TDs in 20 games.

Cedric Benson: 114 carries, 420 rushing yards (3.68 ypc), 4 receptions for 25 receiving yards and 2 TDs in 14 games.

Mike Williams: 29 receptions, 350 receiving yards and 1 TD in 16 games.

Right now, it's Ronnie Brown/Cadillac Williams and everyone else (among the top 10 picks). Ronnie Brown has 201 fewer rushing yards and 65 fewer carries. Ronnie Brown would have to average 3.09 ypc over his next 65 carries to match Cadillac's rushing yards/rushing attempts. Ronnie Brown has 22 more receptions and 291 more receiving yards than Cadillac Williams. Cadillac Williams would have to catch 22 more balls and average 13.23 yards per reception to match Brown's receptions/receiving yards. As it is, Brown is averaging 7.86 yards per reception while Williams is averaging just 4.49 yards per reception. Ronnie Brown has touched the ball (rushing+receiving) 386 times for 1,819 total yards, that's an average of 4.71 yards per touch. Cadillac Williams has touched the ball 429 times and has come away with 1,729 total yards. So Cadillac Williams has 90 fewer all purpose yards but has 43 more touches; Williams has averaged 4.03 yards per touch.

When ronnie has been givin the opportunity he has played very good.In my imo he is the best offensive player to come from that draft and will only conitue to imporve as we sure up the offensive line. Ronnie running behind a decent o-line will be a very scary thing for opposing teams. If ronnie had not split carries last year he would have put up big numbers. And this year with the excepetion of the new england game has consistently produced with limited opportunities. He will be a top 5 back in this league for years to come.Did you guys already forget what ricky looked like behind the 2003 o-line. He did not fare any better that ronnie and that was one year removed from a 1800+yds season. Ronnie 3.8 >vs ricky 3.5 and thats that ricky got the ball a whole lot more carries.

when ronnie has had holes this year he has gotten huge gains.today i saw a MAJOR IMPROVEMENT he must have made in his game himself.it was in the first half he got a stretch run to the right and there was nothing.he actually cut back and juked out a defender and picked up 5 yards instead of the negative 1 he would have gotten.his vision is improving and he could be dangerous if he keeps it up

We definately need to involve Ronnie Brown more; he should be getting atleast 20 carries per game........it would also be nice to give him about 5 passes a game. This offense should be centered around Ronnie Brown.

cant get stellar # if your only given the rock 15 times a game

Not a reach. I still feel we filled a great need in the best possible fashion. When we have at least an average OL, we can pass final judgement.

Ronnie Brown is an absolute beast, he's my favorite player and one of the things i look most forward to on game day he is also virtually getting no push from the offensive line and gets 3 yards when he should have had -1.

Yes, RB did his best to get yards on his own today. The juke out on the defender was nice to see. When he had no holes he just tried to break arm tackles and run over people. Now he is trying to move north to south and maintain elusiveness which is nice to see. I don't recall any negative yards because he tried to reverse his field or did not take advantage of an opportunity when it presented itself.

He is not the best at using his vision. At the same token he can't help it if his blockers are not succeeding either. In comparison to the other runners listed in Breed's post considering his upside he is as good as other 1st rounders. The fact that he was picked #2 is of course the reason for lofty expectations and thoughts from some that he was a reach. The Dolphins had the #2 selection and drafted based on need and philosophy at the time. The fact is the Dolphins needed him then and need him now. I am glad he is on our team.

I agree that Ronnie is showing a lot of improvement, the problem is every time HE shows improvement the line decides to play like ****.

That and he just doesn't get the ball.....Cadillac is having the same problem this year.

I am surprised you even bring up this point. Nick said when he drafted him that he would have preferred not to take a running back at number 2. Also, he said he was the best value for the pick. Finally, judge a decision based upon the information at the time. When chosen, Ronnie Brown was a talented runner that catches the ball well out of the backfield. Guess what? That is exactly what he is. He is not a back with great vision. Nick never said that he was. He was the best value at the time with the information available.

Which of course comes down to 2 things, Mularkey, and The O-Line. I think if the O-Line was blocking better we MIGHT see more running plays... Than again Mularkey could just be the idiot we all think he is.

This is the reason why the Shotgun Run plays are driving me INSANE. By the time he finds and gets to a hole its already been filled.

There has to be a reason Ronnie isn't getting the rock. I mean today's game we had 62 pass attempts and only 15 runs. Perhaps Ronnie isn't able to take the pounding and Saban is trying to limit his carries so he can make it through the season. If Ronnie goes down then we are looking at Morris for our starting RB.
