Why can't Mr. Selfless himself set the precident for rookie contracts? Mr. I want to be there and ready to go. The great person who puts the team before himself. Why can't he step outside of the norm...not wait for Alex Smith and his contract...and negotiate their own contract and get him in camp ON TIME. Ronnie has camp a week earlier than Alex Smith.

Why can't they step outside the box...work on their own contract and get him into camp on time so he has a chance to be the starter at the begining of the season? We saw how much waiting around helped out Philip Rivers last season...

Maybe I am expecting too much I dunno...I just don't see why they can't get it done and get him into camp when he needs to be there.

he wants to be rich. And by rich, I mean as rich as possible. It is easy as a fan to tell a player he should give up 1 million dollars. However I know i would find it hard to give up 1 million dollars even if I was going to get 16 million as well. It is still a million dollars.

The fact of the matter is Ronnie Brown is no different than other players. He is no more a team guy than TO. He wants his money for himself, and he is willing to sit out. That is who Ronnie Brown is, good bad or indifferent.

you give up a million dollars for the good of a team you haven't played for

LaDainian Tomlinson held out too, and look how bad he turned out. Oh wait.

It really isn't that big a deal if he misses a week or two of training camp. If it was a QB that was missing camp time, then I'd be worried. But he's a RB, the easiest position to learn as a rookie. Brown will starting opening day even he misses a week or two of training camp.

I did not say I wouldn't do it, or that Ronnie Brown is wrong for doing it, I am just stating a fact. People here always trumpet how much of a team guy Ronnie Brown is, how good a character he is, he will be in camp on time, I was just saying that that is not necessarily the case.

This is why a lot of the vets stay away from the main boards. Pretty much every top pick is unsigned at the moment, and probably will heading into training camp...yet Ronnie Brown gets the call for being selfish? Are you guys kidding me? Did you not monitor his situation at Auburn with Cadillac Williams? Act like you wouldn't do the same thing.

Blame Todd France. It's not on Ronnie...It's on his puppetmaster Todd France.....I'm fine with it all but I'm just eager to see him in the HOF game

How about we wait until monday morn before we blast the guy ?
He's not a "holdout" until the pads go on. Who knows, maybe
he does come to a deal and show you he's a class act ? Or
maybe he's the same as the other 32 1st rounder still unsigned.

That's just absurd.

You know, Peyton Manning missed his first 8 days of training camp as a rookie because of this same scenario.

All I am saying is that Ronnie is no different than any of the other players, I am not saying anything positive or negative.

And I'm telling you putting Ronnie Brown and TO in the same boat is just flat out wrong.

dont blame ronnie. He has to make sure his future is taken care of and he is getting paid what he deserves before steping on the feild. This is a violent and short career for someone that pays alot to the top athelets, if you are a top pick, get your money!!! Dont blame him. Also, he is a running back, it wont hurt that much for him to have say 3 preseason games vs. 5. if he were a qb it would be different but he only needs to know running, pass routes for his postion, and blitz pickup. He will be fine even if he has to wait a week to resolve contract problems.

ALL OF THIS IS RIDICULOUS... he'd be a moron to sign now. Let it play its course and go watch some baseball or something for the next month and a half
