I've been nothing but supportive of Ronnie Brown, but I'm getting tired of his attitude. He's far too happy to be putting up 2 yards and a fumble, regardless of his groin.
When you've got guys with real fire in their bellies putting up 200+ yards on the ground, like Willie Parker and Frank Gore, who were nowhere near 2nd overall draft choices, seeing Ronnie laughing with his buddies despite his 2 yards, and staying on field for what seems like 2 plays in a row at most (not just today, fellas)...this all just bothers me.
I know he's got the physical talent to be one of the best backs in the league, but I am seriously doubting his heart.
EDIT: Post 38
I did not explain myself well enough.
I'm talking about seeing a player suffer a little. When you're sitting on the bench, and you've got two yards, I want to see that you're disappointed in yourself and your performance; that this is not enough and nowhere near the output you expect from yourself.
I can't run against an NFL defense, and doing so isn't going to prove me wrong and suddenly create a perspective with which to relate to Ronnie. It's not about that.
I want to see his fire. I want to see him upset with himself, especially on a day like today. Fellas, this is not his first bad performance, and he's had incredible ones, and incredible effort; but, he's had some bad days. This was a really bad day. And he was smiling all day long.
I don't know. Maybe it was the way Troy Smith (I'm not an Ohio State fan) looked on the bench this weekend. He had 3 touchdowns and he wouldn't even let his well wishers try to cheer him up. Fire. He didn't need support, he's got it self churning inside.
Maybe Ronnie expresses that through smiles in any situation.
I love that he smiles, don't get me wrong, but I've never seen him upset (barring that one broken play yesterday where he got rocked behind the line a second after getting the toss) and yesterday would have been a good day to look a little upset.
Also, I am a season ticket holder and watch him on the sidelines, so in this evaluation, I have a unique perspective (lower bowl, Dolphins sideline).
