I wonder if the coaches are worried about Ronnie's carries this late in the season. After he fumbled, I would have put him back in on the next series to make sure his confidence wasn't shaken, but it seemed that the coaching staff decided to keep Ricky in for extended durations. Maybe Ricky is being showcased for a trade in the offseason.

I understand that Ronnie didn't have a full camp, and he's now at that point where the college season would be ending so he might be a little tired. But I think we need to see what Ronnie Brown would do with 20+ carries. Learning to handle that kind of load is important for his development.

R.Brown? 20+ carries?.

As long as he holds onto that damn ball!
Is anyone else starting to get worried when Ronnie carries the ball?

Because of two fumbles, in one game? Give me a break.

He's a rookie and having alot of success. He's going to take chances, because they are paying off. He needs to learn when to just go down, and when to go for extra yardage.

I think wearing Ronnie out is a big concern, but I dont think it is an issue. He hasnt exactly been pounding it. It's good that we have Ricky to bring him along slowly, though.

no... coming into this game he had one fumble all season... why would you be worried?

yes this was one of those games where he had some trouble holding the ball, but this in no way worries me... its a one game fluke, if it continues, then yes it'll worry me

I knew I would take heat for the fumble comment... But as he extends the ball is always sticking out. sometimes you stretch.. sometimes you don't. Ronnie may have had 1 fumble all season coming into yesterday that he LOST.. but he's fumbled a few times.
I like Ronnie... before you start to flame me. But he needs to hang on. If we surrendered points of his 2 fumbles he would be taking serious flack right now!

im not flaming you... im just saying he had one fumble period... not that he LOST... one fumble whether lost or not...

I think they're doing a good job of not making Ronnie feel like he has to carry the running game in only his first season in the league. You want a rookie to be able to feel out the game without having tons of pressure on him to produce. His having a year of being able to be more aggressive in the game without feeling as much pressure may be the difference between his feeling like a stud in the league in 3 years and his feeling like he's just another running back. Getting Ricky back and making that happen was a genius move by Saban IMO.

If he didn't extend the ball like that we would have been 1 TD less yesterday. I agree he is young and is just going to learn when to take what you have gotten. I love the fight he has in him though, he will work for every yard until 5 players are on top of him. I would rather have that with a few fumbles than him going down on contact.

They gave it to ricky cause as an old vet he knows about ball security. AND they were switching off ever series anyway.

as to ronnies wear and tear i would not be worried. Since ricky came back Ronnie has not had more then 20 "touches" a game. Splitting the carries should help him out as the season extends past what he is used to.

He's a rookie. Rookies Fumble. He had a bad day. He didn't do anything wrong, he just was trying to hard. When the other team is down they are looking to strip the ball. He needs to learn that in clock situations it's better to lose a yard and go down than gain 25 and fumble.

Thats all im saying bro

I like the fact we arn't burning him out. Let Ricky take some of the beatings of a NFL game, and then next year, he should be in A+ shape and stronger. Then next year he gets the 20+ carries and Ricky is cut back to 5-10. Not worried at all about the fumbles. They were unfortunate, but that is all. Jay Feely missed a 3 FG's yesterday, and it was a fluke, just like RB's fumbles.

I don't think they weren't worried about RB's confidence. The kid is very mature for his age... I don't think he has a fumble problem...it is good that happened in a game we won. Boogie Brown was focus on it and work on it without it being blown out of proportion.

Don't mistake it though, Oakland is the #1 contender to get Ricky in a trade next year. Saban was showing off the talent yesterday. His momma didn't raise no dummy.

Miami will get no value for trading RW. He won't play hard for any other coach. He said one of the only reasons he came back was Nick Saban. So he is a dolphin and he does not want to become a feature back again. Miami wore him down in the 2 years he was here prior to the retirement. it will be the R and R show for quite some time here in Miami.

because of 2 fumbles in a game? be realistic. his carrying is not the problem its the run blocking

And that wasn't even a fumble. It was only called that way by the refs in the Buffalo game, even though replays showed his knee down. So as far as I'm concerned, yesterday was the first time Ronnie Brown lost a fumble. I'm not too worried about it right now.
