Ted Ginn Jr.- I was shocked when we picked him instead of Brady Quinn. I really did not understand the pick for a few weeks but my opinion has changed. Ted Ginn will give the offense a new dimension. Over the past few years we have lacked speed. Ted Ginn will bring that to our offense. He also will help us tremendously on kick returns and punt returns. It will be interesting to see in how many ways he will help this team.

John Beck- I also questioned this pick on draft day. I did not understand why you would take a 25 year old rookie with such an early pick. After watching him in minicamp and in other games, I can see why. This guy has a tremendous amount of talent. He has all the tools to be a good starter in this league. Cam Cameron made both Phillip Rivers and Drew Brees into top of the line quarterbacks. I do not have any doubt in my mind that he can do the same with John Beck.

Samson Satele- This is one of my favorite picks. Samson Satele will make our whole offensive line better. Last year we lacked a leader on the offensive line. Samson Satele will fill in that role. He brings a nastiness attitude that the offensive line has lacked for years. I have relatives who live in Hawaii and they have told me that the Dolphins got a great player in Samson Satele. I can't wait to watch him play this season.

Lorenzo Booker- The Dolphins are really lucky that Lorenzo Booker fell to them. Behind a terrible offensive line at Florida state, he managed to have a 4.3 ypc. Lorenzo will give us a reliable backup running back. Thank God we will not have to deal with Ricky Williams anymore.

Paul Soliai- I cannot believe that Paul Soliai fell to the fourth round. This guy is an absolute beast. I would not be suprised if he became a starter for us this year or next year.

Its not like Brees and Rivers were raw prospects. Not many Oc's have that type of talent to use from young Qb's, hopefully beck is similar.

Good analysis of this years rookie class. I think we have a chance to have one of the best drafts this year in the NFL in terms of immediate impact and production.

Nice analysis! And don't mind dlockz, he's still chewing sour grapes over us not picking Quinn.

I posted this earlier and have been impressed with hearing about Morino 6th and the Wright 7th contributions in the mini camps. It also appear there might be more help at WR Sutton, guard/tackle with Esera and Wilison which would be huge! Interesting to see what happen when the pads come on.
Sounds like se still need huge help in the secondary though!

I was not sold on the draft right away but went back to Lindy's 2006 projections of the top rookies in 2007 and i felt alot better. They had John Beck the 4th best QB, Lorenzo Booker the 4th best RB, Tedd Ginn Jr 3rd best WR, Samson Satele 4th best G, Kelvin Smith 10 best ILB and Mkristo Bruce the 9the best DE. Thats 6 top 10 at their positions. I have always followed Lindy's and for the Dolphins they have been indicators of good things. Last year they had Derek Hagan. Rogique Wright and Jason Allen in their 2005 top 10. The year 2004 they had Channing Corder, Ronnie Brown and Mat Roth in their top 10. Just to give you an idea.

yes i have to agree with you. I am excited about the whole draft this year and even some undrafted free agents we picked up. This could be one of our best drafts ever. It will be interesting to see who makes the 53 player roster.

Quite the opposite of raw, they were very experienced.

But neither QB had that "all the talent in the world" look to them that you see in guys like Carson Palmer, Daunte Culpepper, Jamarcus Russell, Dan Marino, John Elway, Brett Favre, etc.

Either guy could have washed right out of the league. Drew Brees was on his way to doing just that until he found some fresh motivation to work harder.

You took the words out of my mouth.

I'm still questioning the Ginn pick a bit (and Cameron's draft-day excuse of knowing the Ginn family did not help him out in that regard). Being a PR/KR can't last forever as Dante Hall showed. It will be how well Ginn adapts to being a WR that will determine whether he was worth the pick or not. Long-term wise Ginn will need to develop his instincts and ability to get open without use of speed in the pros. I wanted Brady Quinn and I'm sure if Cameron and Mueller didn't recover and get Beck, their necks would've been in nooses by now. Any QB is a 50/50 chance at succeeding or not (except a Tedford one  ), but you still have to play a hand so I'm relieved that they did so. Beck's no Quinn, but he looks like he has a good enough head and arm to be fine. Certainly not the celebrity Quinn is and will need to adapt after running the spread in college (which tends to kill most QB's).

I wanted either Satele or Kalil and we got one of them. Because Williams is in limbo, the Booker pick looks good. Even if Ricky miraculously returns and plays, it's still a good pick. And I had Soliai pegged to the Phins since the season ended and that fortunately came true.

I don't understand the thought process behind pegging Ginn as just a return man, not a WR. He put up what, 800 or 900 yards in receptions last year and was an incredible deep threat who put the fear of God into college DB's. What's wrong with that? Why, after doing that, does he deserve to get pegged as a kick returner? All of this stuff about Ginn not being a true WR- balony. Take it from someone who watched him put the fear of God into NFL DB's at camp on Sunday- this dude is the real deal. He can get off of the line and send cornerbacks calling for help from their mommies with his deep speed. Why disrespect the man by calling him a one dimensional kick returner? He's a heck of a WR, who will get better as a WR, and he's maybe the fastest man in the NFL. Give him his props and enjoy the ride.

If cam said he loved Brady Quinns family no one would have cared.

Well, I think there are/were many who did not want Quinn, so they probably would care and use it like the people who are not as fond of the Ginn pick are.

you are absolutely right. i don't think the fans understand what they have with ginn. they will all know soon enough.

I think he can be a very good WR. However, many scouts/etc question his WR ability, and Cam himself called him a KR (and just today compared him to Desmond Howard, which will probably not thrill many either).

So, the question is whether Ginn is Steve Smith or Desmond Howard?

There are plenty of fast WR who come out and cannot adapt to the NFL. Let's hope Ginn does.
