One of the best things about the opener was how well the rookies played. In fact have you ever seen as many rookies contribute in such a big way in the first game of the year?
Travis Daniels and Channing Crowder, in particular, really stood out. I thought Daniels was outstanding in coverage. Crowder, meanwhile, looks like a potential defensive rookie of the year, instinctive, tough and all over the field - kind of a combination of Zach Thomas and Junior Seau. Ronnie Brown was a little tentative on some runs, but played fairly well including making a key third down catch on a great play. You can see the talent is there. Matt Roth got some playing time and I just hope he can be disciplined with his attitude and use his recklessness to help the team. I'm not sure if Manuel Wright got in the game or not.
Kudos to our rookies. It could be a great class.
