Obviously he'll be in camp with the guys, part of the 80.. But i highly doubt he'll be on next years 53 man squad. Him and Wilford are best friends, because they both suck.
If we just pretend we drafted DThomas in the 4th round and Murph in 6th, it doesn't look as bad.
It sucks we moved up in the draft for Murphy and he couldn't even play when we had maybe 6-7 different gaurds play for us this year.. Psquad guys on other teams got the nod over Murphy..

We need to improve the depth on our Oline, guys like Allemen, Berger, Ndukwe, Satele will be kept for g/c depth, hopefully Duke robinson or someone great on day 2. So we wont have much room, we might even come out deep at the positions because we have guys with experience in Allemen and Ndukwe... Satele is better than Andy or Ike, if he can transition into a good gaurd.

He'll be in the 80 man camp, but i dont think the 53 man team.. Sucks wasting 4th rounders.. The Phins have been on a nasty streak of 4th round busts. We MUST grab a SOLID contributor in the 4th round.. I dont care if it's a new Punter, it must be a solid pick.

So do we trade Murph for a 7th rounder to a team that liked him last year? cut him? psquad him? keep him on 53, and inactive everygame?

The only players i dont like on our team should be cut, Murphy and Wilford. We should take our loss on it, we can't have bums on our roster that cant practice hard enough to even make the team. I like stealing players from Psquads, it pisses them off, but it's not normally a good sign when your doing that. 5-6 waiver wire and Psquad gaurds that are UFA's and 7th rounder normally, were played before our 4th round Murphy.

can we get the steelers 7th round pick or something? anything?

Dont be surprise if Miami gets rid of some dead weight in the coming weeks. Especially some heavy contracts.

Guys who were paid and under performed last year. Guys like Ernest Wilford, Reggie Torbor, Jason Allen, Paul Soliai, Quentin Moses, John Beck and several others. Miami might want to get involved in the coming weeks and you can see player being cut.

Nope. I think he was only kept around last year because he was Dale Murphy's kid. He had plenty of chances with the injuries we had in the line. Some rookie with potential will replace him.

No doubt - the guy played o-line one whole year in college and was drafted on potential and the fact he didn't start and make the pro-bowl his rookie year has Parcels & company shocked and angry. He's a sure goner - what a waste of a pick! That stupid Wannstedt, Saban, & Cam - this is all their fault.

the only way I see us doin this, is if we sign some more o-line depth.. we are not gonna cut a gaurd when we are thin enough at o-line right now... He might be cut later but not now..

he wont be cut now cuz he's probably making 500k a year...
he'll be cut in camp because i'd rather have experience like allemen, Ndukwe, a new rookie and Berger...

the question was should we keep someone around that had 4th round potential?
he was a project, but do we have room for backups like that? ones that can't contribute...
DThom started the reason as a 6th round rookie, the only reason murphy never played over all the other waiver wire guys is cuz he sucked, not cuz he's a rookie...

thats no reason to spend a 4th on the guy

He's making under $500K for the next two seasons.

Yes you keep him around because of his potential, especially if he shows some improvement from last season. You can always put him on the practice squad and hope he develops even further.

"He found a home at offensive guard for the Aggies in 2007, receiving one of the top blocking-consistency grades of any player at his position in the collegiate ranks. Even more impressive was the fact that his senior season was just his second year playing on the offensive line.

As a senior, Murphy received All-American honorable mention and All-Western Athletic Conference second-team recognition. He again shifted positions, this time moving to left offensive guard. Even though the offense managed 277.9 yards per game and the line gave up 30 sacks and 12 pressures, Murphy graded 84.3 percent for blocking consistency, as he totaled 137 knockdowns and saw just one sack come over his area."

Are you on crack, he was a fourth round pick, and as you said moved up to get him. He struggled to adjust to the pros and was not active for every game last year. How can you have an opinion on him?

He was a fourth round pick! Parcells will not cut him, he obviously has the potential to do something in the league.

Won't be Cut...

You guys are nuts, why would you even think that.

We don't know what the issue with Murphy was and why he wasn't able to crack the starting line-up. Guards picked in the 2nd day of the draft, with potential, are littered throughout the league. Some develop into capable starter and some fizzle, big observation there. When Thomas went down, we picked up guys like Johnson and Alleman.

Also, we've got to remember how many lineman we activated each game after Smiley and Thomas went down: Long, Carey, Satele, Alleman to play guard, Ndukwe for guard and tackle, Johnson for Centrer/Guard, and even Frye for Guard. Though none of these guys were stellar I believe de-activating Murphy was done because we couldn't really count on him to effectively play a guard spot. Big conclusion there, but he also provided no additional depth because he couldn't slide over and play center or tackle. Our interior line towards the latter half of the season was a jigsaw puzzle and Murphy was a piece that didn't fit. Give him one more off-season and he may have a chance to leap roster spots over Alleman, Johnson, or Ndukwe. Even Sparano mentioned in his press conference that he was a young guy that has some ability and not to be forgotten quite yet. The Dolphins were more than willing last year to stick with Murphy, stay patient, and help develop him into a contributor. Let’s not forget that our old line-coach Maser may not have been a good match for some of his students like Murphy.

no, we need to KEEP Soliai, Jason Allen, and Quentin Moses. All are young, good for DEPTH. What happens if Gibril Wilson gets hurt? What happens if Ferguson gets hurt? Or if Merling AND Langford get hurt?

Exactly! I would not be surprised to see him cut, and I would not be surprised to see him make the team. He was drafted with one year of offensive line experience in college. The worst that happens is that he is cut and placed on the practice squad.
