Rosenhaus: Bowens likely to retire

Really gonna miss him...IMO he never really got the respect from the fans that he deserved.

I don't see him in the ring of honor either, but he should definetly get some respect after he retires from the NFL. He got snubbed about 3 times from the Pro Bowl. While Warren Sapp was talking his big mouth off, and going to Hawaii, Timbo was taking on 3 OLmen and MAKING our defense.

Sad to say it's time. His best days are behind him. He has not been a real force in a few years.

Goodbye, to Dbo (and some more cap room)

I guess the 15 DL FAs we signed turned out to be helpful.

Sad to see him go....

ahh, we're talking about tim bowens retiring, not david bowens (dbo) being cut.

We shall miss you Timbo.

Hope you have a healthy and relaxing retirement.

TimBo was a good steady player and he will be missed by many fans including myself but, he was far from ring of honor material.

How do you figure? Bowens was the best player on our D when he was healthy, and his production is right up there with Warren Sapp who is probably a hall of famer. There is a reason that pretty much any linebacker we've plugged into the defense in the last 10 years has played like an all-pro, because of Timbo's wicked beast skills and ability to protect the LBs. Defensive tackles just don't get the recognition that other positions do.

Sapp has 79.5 career sacks. Timbo had 22. They were different kinds of players. Sapp was a 300-pound pass rusher who's weakness was defending the run when it was coming right at him. Bowens was a 350-pound run-stuffer who wasn't much of a pass rusher.

As for being the best player on our D, I think JT, Zach, Surtain and Madison were all above Timbo.
