It looks like Dawn Aponte has a lot more power than Stephen Ross has been saying. In fact we saw some of that during Hard Knocks last year. Ross is finding out that you can't have a woman in such a position in the NFL and have experienced and more knowledgeable men come in and have to answer to her. And I am sure the fact that she snitched on the GM to the HC doesn't help either. Also let's not forget the classless way she handled the Ryan Tannehill negociations on Hard Knocks. These GM candidates who turned down the job, turned it down for a reason. They see that Ross may not have been truthful when he said the GM will only answer to him. They see and owner who will tie their hands when it comes to hiring or firing the HC. They see an owner who is not around. Folks, add these all up and it equals failure for this GM because most people around the league now know Failbin is incompetent and Aponte knows the cap and nothing else football wise. This new GM is set up for failure and these candidates SEE THAT!! And they want no part of it.

It is very disingenuos for Ross to say that each each member of the triuvirate will answer to him seperately when Philbin and Aponte are already part of an alliance and represnt 2/3 of the power.

When I learned Aponte took everything Ireland complained about Philbin's coaching and went and TOLD him about it, word for word, it made me realize that she's going for a power grab. With Farmer taking his name out of consideration, look for Brian Gaine to be promoted to GM and Aponte to try and run this team. She'll convince Ross that the core of the team is good, and now they're moving in the right direction.

Unfortunately for us fans, this is the worst thing that could happen. We have someone who knows nothing about running a football team reporting directly to an owner who knows nothing about owning one.

In less than five years, Ross sells this team to LA.

A lot of what you said is completely un PC but this is a good ol'e boy league so while I'm not sure if its valid or not it certainly is plausible.

Exactly. The structure being proposed invites back stabbing and finger pointing. Someone in the building needs to be in charge
Someone with football knowledge.

That's where I see a JT or Marino possibly being of benefit to the team. I'm not saying they are the most qualified, or the best candidates. Just the first two names I came up with.

As it stands now the new GM has the deck stacked against him on day 1. With the philbin/aponte alliance.

I remember when we brought Aponte over from Cleveland. The Browns fans felt sorry for us. BROWNS fans actually felt sorry for US. Wow.

Amen! I have been saying that for a while now, but I get flamed by the homers.
"But, but, but the media is out to get the Dolphins its all lies!! Ross is really rich, he knows what he is doing"

Best Signature picture ever man!!!

I don't think this has anything to do with Dawn being a woman, it has everything to do with Dawn not being qualified in the player evaluation and talent area. Dawn is the finances and nothing more, she has no more business being involved with scouting and player evals than Ross himself.

Ross is becoming very inept at running a job search and debacle after debacle is piling up. It really is becoming embarassing, I'm tired of ending up with plan zero.

I agree with most of this, but there is no way the NFL will allow the team to move. LA is a city that doesn't care about football, and the fans that do are bandwagon 49er fans.

I think in the male dominated sport of football, it does matter that she is a woman. Just a few years ago, women were not allowed in locker rooms. Athletes become coaches, HC's and then GM. It is the natural progression. On top of that throw in a obviously clueless owner that she is likely blowing, and the fact that Philbin is meek and compliant. She IS running the team. A competent GM can smell that as soon as he entered the room.
This team is set up for another 3 years of mediocre stupidity.

It has nothing to do with Aponte being a female it has everything to do with she is more then a capologist and is constantly on a power grab. Look around the league how many teams have a capologist that is such a divisive force? Aponte is not a number cruncher

You all watch too much daytime TV.

Any GM coming in will have the opportunity to influence the organization as much as any other GM in the NFL does. Its going to take a strong person, but the new GM will have to earn his respect - and he'll get it if he's good at his job. You all act like Philbin and Aponte are these conspiring meddlers determined to take down the GM like a Marcus Brutus. Whoever we hire as GM will be working with Philbin and Aponte, not against them.

And interesting observation to your statement. Aponte came from Cleveland. Farmer currently employed by Cleveland surely must've had a LOT of stuff said to him about Aponte. I wouldn't doubt that affected his decision to come here.

I would agree with you, but obviously we're not dealing in reality. We're dealing with perceptions.

And it seems that perception has validity to the candidates we're interested in.

Like Cmon. How many guys simply refused the position without even an interview. Walked away from more money and power that their current situations?

No matter how you paint it, there is a rot in Davie and even the wolves want touch this carcass.
