Upon his arrival at the NFL's spring league meeting, Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross told NFL.com and NFL Network that he expects Matt Moore to be the starting quarterback when the 2012 season begins.

"I don't think they're going to rush (Ryan Tannehill) into anything," Ross said. "He's going to have to win the starting job. I think Matt Moore will probably be the starter, and I wish him the best."

Asked when he expects Tannehill to take over the job, Ross didn't discount the possibility of Moore remaining the man in Miami.

"Whenever (Tannehill) is ready," Ross said. "And if Matt Moore develops, so be it. We want a franchise quarterback."

Ross is either growing into being a good owner or someone is writing his press releases.

This wasn't a press release, it was an interview with reporters. Ross has always been a good oner, he just made some rookie mistakes and has obviously learned from them. He just wants to win, and he finally seems to have the right people in place to build towards that goal.
 
All the hatred I once had for Ross and Ireland has completely changed over the last few months. I hope this is a sign of things to come.
 
The real question becomes if Moore does well, and I'm not saying outstanding, but well enough to get us in the playoffs or even above .500 do you re-sign him and for how much? Knowing you have Tannehill for 4 years and about $13 million which is less than most backups make in this league.
 
I would still prefer it if he just didn't talk at all...
 
I thought Ross had made some significant strides in PR this off season, but imo this shows he still has a ways to go. Much wiser for him to say something along the lines of, "It will be determined by the coaches in preseason. I trust their ability to choose the best starting QB...blah, blah, blah."

Interesting how he thinks Moore still needs to be developed considering he has been in the league for 5 years already and led Miami to a 6-3 finish to the season..."And if Matt Moore develops, so be it." Ross ranks right up their with Brandon Marshall when it comes to throwing QBs under the bus...:lol:
 
Unfortunately we got a 'Hands On' owner like Jerry Jones. No one likes the Dolphins or whatever team they follow because of the owner. I wish Ross would find other ways to satisfy his ego than giving interviews on 'HIS' Dolphins.

His replies are getting noticably better, but then again the only reason we had the HUGE media and public perception problem was directly because of his mouth. Seeing him in the war room sitting between the GM and Head Coach made me want to vomit. :bobdole: :puke:

At least not calling disgruntled fans and letting them be the team spokesman is a step in the right direction.

But jeez, hasn't anyone ever suggested to him it would be wise to hire a communication consultant if he is going to be owning a team and talking to the media?

i'll answer that...matt moores not good enough to get us where we want to be...i give the job to tannehill no later than after the 2012 season...and find out if he is...

last thing i want to do is give matt moore meaningful nfl starter money contract extension...the last thing

I wouldn't give him starter money either...but we're going to need a backup for Tannehill when he earns the job at some point. Garrard and Moore are on one year contracts.

then sign him to backup money...$3-4 mil per max...if not see ya

i bet he's gonna want to test the market though if he has a solid season overall...
 
all i know is moore better not miss all the stuff i saw him miss underneath last year if he wants a future in this offense...our qb is gonna have to complete passes at a high level clip in this o for it to function at a high end...he starts air mailing underneath routes with no pressure and missing the throws he should make he missed last year and that won't fly very long...
 
If I paid a Billion dollars for a NFL team and really if it was the Dolphins, I'd have a VERY HARD TIME not wanting to be in on every decision.
