"Im thrilled with this weekend. We got the players we wanted, and if they werren't there when we thought they would be we went up and got him. I think there's total unanimity. The whole front office, scouts, position coaches, and personnel department were all on the same page. I've never seen anything like it. And the players they've been talking about wanting to have, we got every single one of them, It's pretty thrilling."

Good morning to all fellow fans. I find this really exciting. I know some picks were widely unpopular in here (is that any different on other team's boards?), and especially the price tag to get them, Drake and Howard for example. But, I trust there are MONTHS of work by very experienced personnel (realistically more experienced than most of us, if not all) that were out to get the players that our coaching staff needed in order for their idea and system to succeed. Now, I'm clear that many things can happen wrong along the way, some are gonna bust, some UDFA's are gonna stick hopefully, and some will get cut, but this kind of approach tells me there's an actual idea of the specific kind of football Gase &co want to play here in Miami, and this approach seems different than what has had us in an ocean of mediocrity for the last 2 decades. Am I being overall optimistic? I'm not a board guru like many here, but I'm a true sports fanatic, been that for many years, and I know a serious approach from an impulsive one. Tunis fell to our laps, and we probably missed out on Jack, but the rest of our players look like they were wanted by our staff, not exactly best available (in somebody else's board) at a need position. Just, the players they wanted on our team. And that's fresh, that's new, that might lead me to think things are about to change here. This Miami Dolphins Football Team, is about to surprise many teams in many different ways!! Let's go Fins, wohoooooooo!!!

Also, their experience hasn't really been questioned. Its their competency, or lack thereof, that concerns people.

Do you know what the price tag was to move up for Jack? We know that they tried, but, it's not a 1 team negotiation, and what it tells me is that the price was probably too high, with the additional injury risks present, which our medical staff knew about. We will not know for some time if it was a good deception to pass on him (@ 13, where we got a higher ranked player) or were wrong NOT to throw the house in for Jack. Maybe it even meant to move back into the 1st, for teams before Jax in the 2nd might have wanted to stay put!

There were 5 potential trading partners in the 2nd round we could have negotiated with. It cost us a 2nd and 4th to move up to the 7th pick in the second round, i see no reason why it shouldn't have cost us something in that range to move up to the 5th pick. But even if it would have cost us a 1st round pick, you pay that price. Because thats what Myles Jack is worth. Barring a complete meltdown we're not likely to be in position to take the 2nd or 3rd best player in next years draft.

We know right now that it was the wrong move to pass on him. Even if it doesn't work out for Jacksonville it was worth the risk. Because the potential for reward is so, so high. We already know what happens to teams that play it safe in this league, they lose on Sundays to teams who cashed in. The players that we pass on don't just disappear into thin air, we see them lining up against us.

And moving back into the first would have been positively inspired. Sure it would have cost more, but we would have gotten an extra year on his contract. Given Myles potentially shortened career, that would have given us immense leverage in extension negotiations. An extension he'll earn because hes a stud.

I'm done with this "well, at least we tried!" bull**** people seem comfortable with. Mike Tannenbaum has more authority then most of the other GM's in the league. He is undoubtedly getting paid as such. If he wants to be paid with the best of them then he better start performing like the best of them. No more excuses. When our players fail to close out games this forum has few qualms about criticizing them, its time we start criticizing our front office when they come up short.

Agree with you...but, There were 2 medical "currents" with Jack. The Thursday "he might never play football at all, take him off the board", and the Friday "it's not that bad, let's try to jump up to get him"...to our limited knowledge of the situation, we not only have no idea what the real situation is, but also have no idea what the asking price to move up was. Risk vs reward, very high. Again, agree with you, it would've been a home run of a draft. But I'll go with whoever is onboard and trust the new direction this team is heading towards. Much respect

I remember well the situation between CPep and Brees...I can't count with my fingers the amount of threads started here in the past few years bashing our FO's desition, dozens!! And yet, with the info available at the time, and the succes achieved by both Qb's at that moment, choising CPep was probably the safest, most intelligent choice, but it could have been the wrong one too, that's the beauty of this sport. We all know how that one turned out, yet few look back at the info available during desition time...

The plan on Thursday night, if Tunsil didn't drop, was to draft Myles Jack at 13. Friday afternoon offered more clarity after James Andrews came out saying that Jack did not need microfracture surgery on his knee. I am surprised that the Cowboys took Jaylon Smith before Jack, but the Cowboys had insider information about Smith's surgery.

With elite talent, you take that gamble every time. Miami almost did at 13.

I wish the best for Myles Jack in Jacksonville. If they can get the coaching sorted out, then they should be able to win a relatively weak AFC South. Something about Gus Bradley just makes me say "5-11" or "4-12" every time

Jax will be exciting to watch, that's for sure!!

Cle, Ten, and Dallas all said that they are not interested in trading down further and were looking to pic.

Obviously Newsome preferred to get a 5th from Jax instead of a 4th from us since it meant only going dow 2 spots.

I remember how "thrilled" Ross was when we got Dion Jordan. Not dumping on our draft just not putting huge store in Ross' pronouncements on the draft.

Not to mention Miami already took a risk with their first pick Tunsil. Can you imagine what it would be like if Tunsil has off field issues and Jack never plays or doesn't play up to expectations because of his knee. It could have been a disaster. Personally I would have been fine with the gamble on greatness. I think the front office was as well to a certain extent but taking a gamble with Tunsil maybe made them a little less willing to throw total caution to the wind in trying to move up to take another huge risk with Jack.

Tbum must have told Ross to be thrilled, because that clown never has any idea what the **** is going on.

Agreed, that's a potential 1-2 out of the league in 2 years risk.

We're exactly in the same spot right now. Remember, everybody was ecstatic with the potential in Jordan's pick! Watch the live pick from the stadium, it still gives me goosebumps!! The desilution is stomach-wrenching!!

And he still got our 4th anyway which shows taking Jax's 5th was the right move for him.
