Per profootballtalk.com Miami Dolphins owner Steven Ross infatuated with the idea of signing Peyton Manning. Article says he may be willing to wait for decision even if that means possibly losing on Matt Flynn.

Not that I'd mind passing up Flynn but for the owner to usurp Philbin to dictate that it's all in .. or nothing on Manning is organizationally not a good thing.. not good at all.

Manning is going to get better, it's just a matter of time. I don't think that Flynn is that much better Moore, so I would rather wait!

We should either draft a guy or get manning or preferably both.

its a delicate situation for us unless peyton is released prior to opening of free agency if we put all our eggs in the manning basket we could easily lose out...and i doubt very much matt flynn once free agency begins is gonna wait around for anyone...he'll be on someones books within the first 72 hrs he's free imo...

so miami better have their ducks in a row on this one...waiting around for manning is risky stuff...and all this he's interested in miami stuff may be the case but any agent worth his salt is gonna identify the teams that have qb needs and are close to being real contenders and tell anyone who will listen their client has interest...why would he limit his market by saying he's not interested in any teams??? makes no sense...of course peytons interested in miami...and about 5 other teams also

I am sure Mr Ross has not said a single word to Barry Jackson about Peyton Manning. Tampering charges are very serious and could cost the team big time. Just another columnist shooting their mouth off.

ross wants manning because he gives us a chance to win a super bowl and he sells out the stadium and will get the fanbase excited..remember its also a business and ross lost a lot of money last year..

You got to remember that if the skins or browns sign flynn thats one less team in the RG3 sweepstakes!

all this talk of risks w/ peyton is fine but i think the biggest risk would be signing flynn to be the future qb.

So Ross doesn't have the right to pick the QB for his team? And Philbin does? Is it not possible that they both had a conversation about this prior to Philbin being hired? What if its a consensus within the organization? Still not a good thing huh?

and since we're surmising beyond the article's facts to conveniently form-fit our agendi, suppose he didn't, eh? Still a good thing?

And if we lose out on Manning then we just have to move on. It wont be a major blow. If anything, our experience to losing out on coaching candidates should serve us well in how to deal with a highly touted signing.
