Reading between the lines when Fisher speaks it is easy to tell he is politely saying he "didn't like Miami ownership and the feeling of team". Same worries many of us had about attracting top people. Looks like we will be going with an unexperienced coach who is going to have one hell of a job to do, in a difficult working environment. I hope they pull it off. But there is definitely a let down feeling to what we are seeing. Just more slow moving disarray in Miami land. You can give Ross props for wanting Harbaugh but he just looked like an idiot and has done nothing to change his image. It's funny, I was thinking how he said at the end of his meeting he even told, "Harbaugh to stay in the college game". He was obviously trying to make it sound like a low key meeting. It's funny looking back on it, if he did say that, Harbaugh must of thought the guy was an idiot. I wonder how often he giggles about that with other coaches.

At one time, I wondered if people were shying away from Miami because the team (players) was in bad shape. Now it is more depressing since the whole organization seems to be in bad shape.

Philbin seems to be the guy with the most smoke around him.
He is not a young Don Shula (another bonehead comment by Ross) or an exciting experienced coach. Ross should worry about the calibre of "his words" and learn to understand that "he has the ability to turn everyone off, from coaches to fans".
I hope the Dolphins get some positive vibes going, this is a serious year for retaining fans.

So Philbin does not call plays. Why did he not call plays with GB, that is the question for me.

He really shouldn't.

Fisher was never coming here though. He was going to the Rams from day one. He just wanted to set a scale to get more money & power from the Rams.

Parcells knew how to deal with owners like Ross. The fact that Ross is cronies with King Carl is probably scaring more people away than just the fact that he is so ignorant about the NFL. Peterson empowers him which is REALLY scary.

Ross shouldn't talk to the media at all. Hire people to do it for you, or simply give press releases.
He can't even read well off a piece of paper! I think he looks like an idiot in front of the camera, every time. He seems outdated to me, from a style of management that doesn't work so well anymore. I believe he does not know how to motivate those around him in the post 2000 world. He is going to manage the way that made him successful instead of the way that is needed. Although the fact that he could for see Harbaugh's success gives a shred of optimism.

Fisher went to the Rams because they have a QB. I think your "reading between the lines" is just an excuse to bash Ross. Although green, I think Ross is a good owner.

So long as he keeps signing the paychecks, I don't see him as the problem. It's not like the guy is Jerry Jones.

Just curious, but what gave you that impression? When I watched the presser, it didnt seem like Fisher was too enthusiastic about being in St. Louis. It seems like they won by default. If he really didnt like our ownership, it probably has to do with Ross not giving Fisher total control. Maybe Fisher is a little bitter because he wanted to come to Miami but couldnt? Who kows...

I am not even sure Bradford is a great QB. He has a lot to prove and the Dolphins roster is better than the Rams roster overall. The Rams don't have a lot of talent on their team right now.

If the Rams aren't sold on Bradford they can get a QB this year with the #2 pick. Hell, so many people think Luck to the Colts is a sure thing (I don't), but that may not be the case. The Rams have a real shot of getting Luck and if not RG3.

it was about control for fisher. money was a given. he wanted to draft his guys, get his coaches, know that he is not moving to LA, and make sure whatever GM gets hired, if so, is his guy. that simple. good for him. just a note however, coaches who have complete control, often find themselves over their head, particularly when things go bad, he will get the blame for everything.
