I Can't stand Ross , but it's clear we had 0 shot at Jim Harbaugh. Jim Harbaugh didnt interview with no NFL team. It's clear to me Michigan was is #1 choice, and He was not changing his mind. There is no reason to dump Philbin for Rex Ryan. Rex has done nothing in 4 years. Don't get me wrong. I do not support Philbin. Think there be better options after next year's over. Then he can pack his bags.
 
I agree that Rex Ryan is overrated. Guess what, he's still better than Philbin. Why? Because he's actually coached his team to the playoffs (which Philbin has proven incapable of doing) and coached well enough in the playoffs to get to the conference championship (something which no Dolphins coach has done since Shula over 20 years ago).

Defend Philbin if you must, but he's done zip as a head coach to merit being considered superior to coaches who've actually accomplished something. Needless to say, if Philbin had been coaching the Bills, Jets, or whoever, and turned in the same performance there that he has here, there's not a single person on this site calling him a good coach.
 
I'm pretty sure you could replace Philbin with just about anyone right now and get similar or better results. I have no interest in wasting another year with Philbin, but it is what it is...
 
OP has a point. Philbin is average at best, but I think it's unwise to jump from one branch before you have a handle on the next. Playoffs next year or blow it up.

No. 2., who says Rex wanted to come here anyway. As a coach, which team would be a safer bet for success next year?

Yes the mantra of he dolphins next year. To say that there was nobody better than Philbin to hire is absurd.
 
Without reading through the rest of this thread. I have to say this is the most dumbest thing I've ever heard. Ross has not done anything right since he has been here and will continue to do nothing right as long as he's here. The list of **** ups is to much for me to type
