I think Ross has finally realized that he is done being a stepping stool, used twice by two coaches (Fisher & Harbaugh) for them to better their deals elsewhere. I was thinking maybe this infatuation with Manning is all a smokescreen to lower the price on Flynn. Before all the talk regarding Mannings' possible release, reports were that Flynn wanted Kevin Kolb type money and we all witness how that played out. So this might be a message to Flynn and his agent that he isn't the only pretty girl at the dance. If he is truly ready to lead a franchise, one in which he has familiarity with the coach, what better way then not trying to break the bank and leave a little more money for us to sign more players.

Also I read today that Osi Umenyiora doesn't expect to be back with the Giants and thinks he might get traded. I would definitely give up a 3rd rounder to have him opposite of Wake (not really sure it would get the deal done but maybe even a 2nd rounder to solve the pass rushing hole we have) obviously not both though. Which would leave the trade to address: OL,S,TE, and possibly WR.

Im a firm believer that if you have a guy who has watched Flynn his entire career (our new head coach) another guy who has watched our most likely QB draft option, Tannenhill (Sherman) that they know what our options look like. If they believe a healthy Peyton Manning is the best option, you go out and get him.

If Flynn or Tannenhill are the guys we have our sights on... you don't get cute and smokescreen your way around.. You go out and get your guy.. if your franchise depends on it... you dont cheap out. we've learned our lesson there before

If im not mistaken Harbaugh deal with the 49ers was cheaper then what Ross offered him.

Plus honestly this team is scary to coach for.The team was basically a laughing stock so who would want to come to a team thats run by an assclown.

Osi is a good player but the moneys gonna be alot.Plus we have to keep the picks we got.Unless its a great deal for us.

I disagree that we were a laughing stock.

We were getting a lot of attention the back half of the season.

Hopefully things have changed with the NEW regime coming in.

Honestly why were we getting attention? From beating Buffalo or was it KC or Oakland or um Buffalo? Did you see the teams we beat they are all bad teams and some are really bad.

We destroyed some of those teams.

Our defense didn't allow a TD in something like 3 games. They were playing well regardless of how bad those teams they beat were. We were beating up on the Giants too until our D folded.

Jeff Fisher went to the Rams, one of the worst NFL teams this decade. They are a laughing stock.

Fisher ultimately went to the Rams because a family connection and the fact that Ross didn't want to give him full control. If Ross gives him full control, he is the coach in Miami, not St. Louis. He wanted the Dolphins job more than the Rams job. Props to Ross for not giving in and giving him full control when he doesn't deserve it.

As for Harbaugh, he was never going to leave California. He took the 49ers job and got to continue living in the same house he had as the coach of Stanford.

In the end perhaps the Dolphins are better off with Philbin then Fisher. Time will tell, but the early impression and buzz is promising.

St louis may have been the laughing stock but not for good reason...They were playing there 5/6th cbs,Sam Bradford was hurt alot of the year and Jackson played banged up...This team was a mash unit for a good portion of the season.

Atleast the Rams beat the Saints and the Cleveland...We couldnt beat a .500 team and we sure as heck didnt beat the Browns.

I dont

Not basically.. WAS/IS a laughing stock.

Ross is the main reason as to why we are a laughing stock.. No doubt he is one of the worst owners in the league.. Hopefully Philbin can win some games and take some focus off of how bad our ownership is.

In 3 months we will not be getting laughed at. Ross and the FO have made it more than clear that they aren't playing around and are going to go out and make things happen. I for one believe he has had enough and is after a quick run. With everything we have done since the season has ended it is clear that the Dolphins won't be the laughing stock of anything next season. Some of you need to quit trying to whizz on everything that happens and look forward to rooting for your team.

I dont

The ewes were good for a few yrs in the late 70's and then the Vermeil/Martz era. Other than that, they are the text book example of mediocrity.

IMO being the "bridesmaid" to sidestep a coach with a record steeped in mediocrity, having control issues, setting up a figurehead GM and hiring Brian Schottenheimer as OC.... and instead ending up with Philbin turned out to be a fortunate turn of events. Some things occur for the best, despite some folk's best intents to make it otherwise :idk:

Manning can't "significantly" impact the cost of Flynn, there is too much demand for him around the league.

nope, until brandon marshall got called for phantom PI

and it seems to me that his bride would be one he could fall in love with for a long long time.....RG3 lol
