Ross vetoed trade for orton for 4th rnd pick

Okay this hunt to see if Ross is a factor in this team struggles is just the media trying to find something entertaining to write about because the Dolphins are not entertaining to watch. The writer saying that he vetoed a trade that was a 4TH round pick, is the writer trying to spice the info up. Denver did not want to get rid of Orton for a 4th, especially when they seen how much Tebow sucks. Personally I didnt want Kyle Orton because he would not be much of an impact at all, just a new face to put the blame on.

sorry, but its hard to believe all this.

any of it!!

for most of the last couple months it was reported by both espn and nfl network that ORTON HIMSELF wouldnt agree to the deal, that it never got to the broncos brass. no meetings over contract. orton was being dissed by the broncs and he knew it, he knew tebow couldnt beat him out and he had something to prove. he knew if he could stall till training camp, they would see letting him go and NOT giving him the contract he wanted was a bad idea. so he kept the finz at bay, not agreeing to ANYTHING they came up with.

and he was right! tebow absolutely stank in camp and pre season and kyle got his deal.

this just sounds like some hack needing to up his story quota. it doesnt make sense. expecially for the fact that wasnt a whole lot to pay for a starting qb.

nope, this is b.s.

Do you not realize that the Broncos did not extend Orton's contract? He's an Unrestricted Free Agent after the season. I don't see your point.

I believe this story completely. Ross thought he could get fans to still go out and spend their hard earned cash to buy tickets to watch this joke of a football team because in his mind we are all stupid. He humiliated Sparano by going after Jim Harbaugh and now he is doing it again by throwing Henne back in his lap and watching the losses pile up making Sparano look totally incompetent. Now when he fires Sparano the entire football world will now think he is justified. If he wants to see how guys like Lankford and Soliai perform before giving them long-term contracts however, I can't fault him for that. But his attempt to extort fans in 2011 rightfully blew up in his face.

But I also think its not a good idea to hire a FO to run your team and then get in their way.

Ross didn't bring in this FO.....they, along with blowhard Parcells, were brought in under Huizenga

I believe this is correct.

Last year he got a 1 year extension going in 2011.

This year nothing so far.

Sorry ... but I won't blast Ross for this. I wouldn't pay Orton $9 million/year either. He did good to veto that trade, in my opinion.

I also translate Ross' moves as, "Work with what you have, save the draft picks for the new regime next year."

Now what a minute.....if Ross vetoed a trade that Ireland worked out, how can he trust Ireland at all ? This would be a red flag to me if I was Ross. He tried to make a trade that was horrible, and I saved the team and vetoed it. So if I am Ross I am saying that Ireland has TERRIBLE judgement, and I'd sack him ASAP. To me that is how I would see the situation.

And so far, Ireland's draft is very mediocre to say the least. Daniel Thomas is out for the 2nd time in 4 games, Gates is raw, when you needed a playmaker right away, Pouncy has been just okay, not set-the-world-on-fire, and the rest are fairly anonymous. Also your blockbuster trade, well that's not worked out so well. The same line that DT has averaged 5 yards a carry against, Bush has only averaged 2.5 against. And your # 2 receiver Bess has 12 catches for 186 yards and San Diego's running back has 14 catches for 186 yards.

Ireland has to go too.

Oh and 5 for 13 in the Red Zone is just as bad as ever. This team will never win until that learn to score TD's.

You lose credibility with that statement.

I am not sure what kind of bench marks you are using to define what constitute draft wins, but I think you are being unreasonably harsh.
When compared to all the previous regimes since JJ the Ireland drafts have produced players that actually will make the team and contribute.
Wannstadt did not draft a single impact player in five years!!!!
Cameron used his top pick on a kick returner.
Saban used his top pick on Jason Allen

1. Pouncey. Make the argument that the price is high, but everything points to him being a solid piece of our line for years to come.
2. DT-He is a rookie who didn't have a proper training camp. These type injuries will come with the territory. It is not like we drafted a running back who is coming off microfracture surgery.
3. Gates- The chance that a receiver is going to have a major impact in his rookie season is very small. Gates shows signs of potential give him time. If you are down on the Gates pick what is your opinion on the Falcons kings ransom for Julio Jones(two number one picks plus three others!!).
4. Wilson solid contributor. We will get mileage from this 7th round pick!

I actually think the draft picks were decent in their own right. We simply have too many holes and were still saddled with the loss of picks from the Marshall trade.
